Apple would most likely use like a "TabletWheel," where there is a button you click and the wheel spinns, each time all you see is 3 applications, only 18 applications can go on it max, though.

They could employee a small multifunctional 'trackpad' of sorts along the bottom frame. This could be used as a biometric reader (for security/login and locking) and also could serve as a side-scrolling menu-bar/dock manipulator.

Think of it as a little .5"x2" miniature trackpad along the lower frame, perhaps upper, that as you drag your finger sideways it moves the highlightered selection on the menubar sideways. There would have to be some form of a selection action to switch between menubar and dock, but that could be easily accomplished. Add the tap-click feature and you now have a scrollable, selectable menubar and dock in a single little strip. Plus, as shown on the PB, it could easily be color-matched to the casing so it wouldn't impact visuals too much, just a little detent set in by a 1/16" or so.

That's a good design, good job! But I was just thinking, you wouldn't have the shortcuts in the menu drop-down unless you had a keyboard on the tablet that could carry out those shortcuts.

While I think that any future version of the Mac OS would need some additional features to make the most of the tablet format I think all the standard features should stay unless there's a good argument for say better battery life etc. If Apple were to produce a tablet (and if OSX can run on Intel then why couldn’t they partner up with HP on the next TC1100 to save on hardware R&D) I think it would be either with a keyboard á la TC1100 or a pure tablet with a option to use the BT keyboard and mouse when convenient.

If the next iBook range included a P4M 2.6Ghz with AirPort & BT in a tablet format with say a 10” screen and kick-arse handwriting recognition for less than £2k I’ll be buying one at launch.
