My MacBook Pro (mid 2015) Fans almost NEVER RUN in the past. I just updated to Sierra and they won't even turn off unless I shutdown the computer. Shortly after restart, they slowly spin back up and stay there. Every program is quit, CPU is almost nothing.... What is going on? Anyone else having this problem? My MacBook Pro is sitting on my normal flat desk with nothing around it.

This SUCKS!
I was having the same issue. My activity monitor showed a process called "secd" using about 95% of the CPU which was causing the fans to run so high. To fix the issue, I went to settings and clicked iCloud. For some reason, keychain was not checked to sync with iCloud. Click the box by keychain and set up your password. As soon as I finished that, the fans went quiet. In activity monitor, "secd" is no longer using any CPU. Hope this helps!

If you are using external monitors with Sierra there is something going on. I have an open case with Apple and they are not quite sure what the problem is yet. Last I heard it was pushed up to a "level 3" tech and now some internal group is working on it.

A bit different question. I upgraded my Macbook Pro retina (2013) to Sierra and noticed that fans stay on for some 5-10 seconds after shutdown (screen off/lights off). Is this a normal behaviour? It didn'happen in 10.10.

Could somebody let me know if system fans stay on for a short time after shutdown in your mac (10.12.) as well?

The problem seems to be connected to software... but I see it more rarely now - only on some rare occasions (Maybe indexing had to do something with it and initiated it more often as well).
Now I encounter this, for example, sometimes when switching from bootcamp partition to macOS and then shutting system down afterwards (screen goes out/lights off but I can still hear a fan for about 10-15 secs). However, sometimes it happens on simple Sierra restart/shutdown process as well (rarely and I do not know in which specific cases).

If this happens on restart - it simply hangs my mac with blank screen for 10 seconds before it starts to boot again. Normaly shutdown/restart until boot process takes only around 4 seconds.

Windows 10 on bootcamp partition shuts down almost immediately with no problems.

Did Apple ever offer up a solution to your issue? I would like to know why the fans are kicking in so much.
