At low settings, Far Cry 2 looks better than the Source Engine at max settings.

You really think so? Source looks great and runs great. I've never seen better looking character models in any engine. I think FC2 looks like crap on low settings.

I tend to agree. I personally think the source engine is the best visually for it's flexibility to run on lower end systems. I have seen some pretty old computers play CS:S.

t19880821, what do you have your MBP overclocked to? What temperatures does it run at while gaming? How do you keep the temps down to an acceptable norm?

I just got this game on Steam and have been trying to optimize the settings for my MBP. I've got the current 15" 2.8Ghz model with 512MB 9600m GT card running 64-bit Windows 7 Pro. I'm also running recent Nvidia drivers.

No matter what I do this game will not get more than 40fps. I've tried the lowest settings, highest settings, DX9, DX10, Vsync, combinations of all these and none of them get me over ~35fps.

Is anyone else having problems in Windows 7 with this game?

PS- I wouldn't be complaining if it were at a steady 35fps, but it jumps between there and ~20fps with lots of tearing and jumping.
