so has no one ever used Forklift?

I use ForkLift but mainly because I got it as part of the MacUpdate bundle recently. I always used Cyberduck before then.

I must admit I quite like ForkLift (especially since the "Leopardised" 1.5 release) and it suits my workflow better than Cyberduck did. I don't use half of its power though as it's a sort of finder replacement too.

I had never heard of it prior to this thread, so perhaps I will give it a try to see if I like it more than Cyberduck.

I got Forklift as part of that software bundle as well, and I thought it would be perfect - FTP and finder replacement, but after finding out about Transmit, I liked it a lot better, and have since rarely used Forklift at all...

Forklift does have a nice connect button where you can choose different types of connections (FTP, Amazon S3, Bluetooth, SSH SFTP....), so it is kinda cool if you typically do more than standard FTP.

My #1 choice is Transmit, with Forklift as a nice alternative.

I have actually been running into quite a few problems with Cyberduck as of late. Transmit is nice. I think $30 is a bit steep for it, but I will most likely buy it.

In my opinion ForkLift is better than Cyberduck since it has more features but it misses one of the most important: you can't synchronize folders so sometimes I use Cyberduck. I have contacted FL developer team and they told me the synchronization feature will be added on release 2.0.

Another vote for Transmit

Transmit is my everyday ftp software even better with coda.

I used to be a Cyberduck user, but found the longer it was running, the more of a hog it became. Then I noticed it kept launching Rosetta, which also didn't help. Ended up with Transmit.

Currently using Flow, though. Nice.

When I want to do things in a real hurry, ftp/sftp in Terminal....

I started having a few odd problems with Transmit although I really like the UI. Then I ran across a review that explained things a bit. I soon switched to YummyFTP. While the UI is not as elegant, it's been rock stable and quicker IMO.

That's an old review, v2.6.2 is years behind the v3 releases.

Despite owning Transmit, I splashed out for a Flow license; really digging it. For a simple S/FTP client, it's neat, and the dev seems to be reacting quickly to reports....

Filezilla makes me happy
i also like fireftp through firefox
depends on my mood
had no idea there were so many different choices
i'm gonna try out the suggestions here
i like free though
i see no reason to pay

I purchased Transmit at v3.2. The review may be old but it seems subsequent updates have not addressed some issues. In any case, the problems I encountered warranted the switch.

I'm curious to know what issues you were having, if you don't mind sharing. I've found Transmit to be nothing but stable. The only reason I use Flow, is sometimes, I don't need a heavyweight app.....
