Owned iPhones:
5s, 6, 7, 8 (returned), X, XS
My favorite would be the XS. It’s the first iPhone I’ve had that is solid all around with no compromise. Sound is amazing, the cameras are remarkable, and the interface is seamless to use.
The 6s is my second favorite for jumping ahead of its time technologically, but the 7 laid important groundwork in many other ways that are paying off in iPhone’s of today.

Love FaceID, but the Xs is a sandwich short of a picnic basket. It's overpriced for what it is and the screen is beyond the limit of warmth for me. True Tone and Nightshift off and even *without* looking at my much cooler MBP (which is also calibrated to the same 6500K whitepoint yet looks 10x better than my Xs, riddle me that), I am constantly aware of just how freaking warm/yellow the Xs screen is.
You know it's bad when in normal use without comparing to anything else you still notice how yellow the screen is and keep double checking to make sure True Tone is off. I've cycled through a few Xs models and compared to my wife's and multiple display models and mine was either the same as the others or better - quite a few were noticeably worse which is basically unfathomable.
6 and 8 were my favorite, and the cool screen temps played no small role.

Wow I had the exact same phones in that order (I didn’t have the original though), and the same favorite and same least favorite haha.
I have had many but my favorite is the one I have now. I have the iphone 10 and have zero desire to switch.

XS Max. Easy. It's the most powerful, the best screen (a plus sized OLED display, yumm), best cameras, etc. Hands down.
Special mention goes to the 7 Plus. The matte black color/finish was my absolute favorite of all the phones. Sadly, I know we won't be able to go back to that because of wireless charging, but I can dream. I actually still have my 7 Plus sitting in a drawer (along with some of the older ones, including my original iPhone -- still boots up!)

iPhone XS without a doubt. Perfect size, beautiful design and excellent features. Can’t see myself tiring of it any time soon.
