The love of my life is a Nikon 500 f/4...somewhere close to the Mrs. :)

Your certainly making good use of it! You've truly found your focal length.

Meanwhile some of us (me) are more of a jack of all trades!

I could get a new A6000 to put it on... :)

You do yourself an injustice sir...

I'll just say some folks here have really good taste in lenses. I admit my fav lenses are those from film days so I'll just enjoy other folks posts here.

Put me down for the Canon 24-105L lens also. It's perfect from the wide end on through for my walk-arounds.

Canon 16-35mm f4.0L - great for the stuff I do - sharp across the field with great colour rendition. I'm regularly using the 16mm end (full frame) to give a good effect without edging into the realms of unreal distortion.

Nice picture. When I saw it I thought this might have been for this weeks competition.

I don't have years of experience with lots of different cameras and lenses. I've only used Sony for the last few years. On my a77 (Mk I), I tend to use the 'kit' lens - a DT 16-50mm f2.8 SSM. It's versatile, sharp and produces good color.

Although I did recently purchase a Sony 70-300mm F4.5-5.6 GII SSM that I haven't had a lot of time to play with. So I may change my choice for next year ;)

Don't know how I missed this thread. Not been that active on the forum lately.

I've got three favourites:

First up is the 35mm Voigtlander Nokton Classic. It's so compact and I love the focus tab. It's a nice performer too.

Then there's my 1957 Jupiter 3 50mm. Great for street portraits and ridiculously small and light.

Finally probably my favourite lens at the minute because of the stunning way it renders is my Leica Elmar-C 90mm.

No no no... this doesn't help with the GAS does it? :D

Actually it's not so much the lenses, but the great shots you get from them.

Cheers :)

I really like the way you use that Elmar. Fantastic rendering and you certainly get good output from the Nokton.

Thats some nice glass right there. But as others have said it's how you use it that makes the difference.

Thanks for the kind words guys. Every now and then I get a keeper ;)

The Nokton is great. Not wanting to add a naked flame to any GAS but it's a cracking little lens. As is the Elmar (which can be picked up ridiculously cheap).

OK guys, question time just for fun and maybe for GAS supression on my part...

They say the lens is the heart of the camera, so leading with heart over mind, what is your favourite lens and why with pictoral examples.....
I had to google this GAS thing to know what you guys are talking about :))

As you probably know, I'm the opposite of GAS :D :D :D

I don't really have a favourite lens as such :/ Probably, the most versatile lens I used was the Canon 24-105mm f4L. It has one of the most useful focal length ranges with a relatively decent speed at f4. It did however, lack really good correction and was a bit bad for CA on my 5D. Things that can be corrected digitally at least.
