kingthias, before you do anything else, you need to ask yourself what makes you special... what do you offer the world that no one else offers.

Bamboo?

Let's see... unassuming, yet resilient... versatile... feeds pandas.

That's it!

Stylized panda face!

The folks will luv it.

No, why?

And no, I don't mean for it to be a final product - but thought perhaps it might be a starting point for him. So, how have you helped?

To ezekielrage_99

Yep.... as said above, I hope it will help out as a starting point.

I actually don't know what to make out of it... I thought you where having a "designers' in-joke" here, and you were serious

Pandas refuse to have sex with each other. We're back to penis!

I'll ask you as well - - what help have you offered?

well, i'll jump in on this one and say that i don't think you have "helped" anything. You may have contributed something... but you have not "helped" at all. I mean, i'll take the ops bikini logo over a boring papyrus initial logo with a bad drop shadow. atleast the op gave custom drawing the logo a shot.

Good - draw something then....

Just because you contributed a "logo" to the thread doesn't mean everyone else should have to "draw something" as well. Some of us actually get paid to do that sort of thing, and while most of us are willing to help by critique, that does not mean we are willing to work for free, even if the person asking for help is only 13 years old.

Is this logo any better:
content

The BD would stand for bamboo design and the letters form a bamboo like shape.
I know the curves aren't the same on the different letters but it's just a rough draft.
Is the concept better at all?
Let me know what you think.

:D:D:D

That is just far too obscene!!!

Both logos are poor. Use some basic typography with a simple graphic addition, if you really need a logo at all.

I Contributed

someone just let me know where to send the bill, but i really think this will do the trick. It's got it all in there. All four of the key fonts that will really make it pop. A subtle gradient with a black stroke surrounding the type to give a little bit of separation from the outer glow. The drop shadow ads a little bit of depth, while the sweet bevel and emboss finishes off that depth with a wham, pow, look who just got real. The lens flare really brings it all together by giving it that futuristic, space feel. I mean, you do wanna be the design company of the future, right?

The tagline is simple and two the point. Using a font like curlz, and juxtaposing it with Hobo is way of throwing convention out the window and showing the world who's boss. Really, i think this is my greatest masterpiece ever. I hope you enjoy it.

@ snberk103, now see... i can use photoshop too.

Thanks for the advice.
I think that I may just not use a logo at all then.
Because I am just a 13 year old kid, I can't pay to have one
designed and I can't seem to make one so I guess I have
no choice.

Hey OP (if you are still around), seeing as you are only 13 and are clearly just looking for something for fun, I had a little spare time at the end of the day so threw together a few quick ideas...I myself am in the process of learning logo design.

I just went with green because you had that in your original design, also makes sense with bamboo, nature, tropics etc. I added an orange accent (tropical flower) to accentuate the whole tropical/island feel. The font is just something fun with a sort of jungle appeal to it. it's nothing spectacular and fairly simple but a few ideas to get you started.

If interested I can throw the files your way so you can build off of them or tweak colours, style, concept etc. If not, that's cool too, just trying to help a kid out...we were all 13 once.

Thanks, I'll mess around with them a little, but they look good already.

I'll ask you as well - - what help have you offered?

You do understand there's a difference between helping and doing it (in this case wrong)? I have offered some Smashing links and design advice (Helvetica + Kerning = nice wordmark) which does go into DESIGN THEORY which would be much more helpful than just doing it.

There is little point doing it for someone who wants to learn, if you give a man a fish you'll feed him for a day teach a man to fish and feed him for a lifetime ;)

@ Bluetooth, there's a really nice concept in there, as I was saying before it's to do with kerning and font choice which you've nailed

Dear kingthias

I just took a couple of minutes with this - but if you want to start with this, please be my guest....

No, why?

You're right about teaching a man to fish and you lend some definite sound advice. I just figured with him being 13 and all, may as well see if I can lend a hand this time around...

Cheers mate, still working on mastering the logo design concept myself so thanks for the words.

I think you missed my point, I wasn't saying that it's a production level concept thus use it. Rather push the person to the appropriate resources so they can learn themselves.

Letting a newbie learn about design from a design forum (as with Smashing, LogoLounge or even Logopond) would be more of a benefit than putting together a poor concept for them to copy.
