Thanks for having a look and commenting, Michael. At the end of each session when I ask who had fun today, and who forgot their worries for a few hours, I'm blown away by how many participants actually did! It's definitely a good thing for peoples wellbeing.
And I'm amazed at how quickly folks are picking up playing with an aperture, on the whole! Especially considering the fact that they only have access to a camera for the couple of hours of each session per week and the vast majority have never used a controllable camera before. The whole of this term is revolving around the creative use of an aperture, next term we will move on to playing with shutter speeds. I have a grant application submitted for some more lenses, extension tubes, eight light/small tripods and some cheap ND filter sets with various step-up rings. I'm really looking forward to that!
What was just a simple idea of mine to infect others with the photography bug has become so much more, changing peoples lives for the better! Getting people out of their depressive and isolated ruts, offering them a chance to explore, create and to genuinely observe Nature close-up and in person whilst also connecting with others in a safe way! Something most of these people didn't do more than a few times a year prior to this due to poverty and a lack of transport supports.
It's beautiful.
