typical pc user :p. nah jks. if you turn on windows sharing in ur network settings, then go to ur pc and "map network drive" to your computers ip followed by your username (\\10.0.0.1/dofot9) it should work. its pretty much that simple

Excuse me? I'm not spreading misinformation about the networking capabilities of Macs.

Frankly I'm surprised the very beginning of that guide (about autodiscovery) didn't work.

thanks Big and Hmac but no prize.... neither method works....i'm on my 7th varition.....this sucks ..I'm hating macs... ..anybody want to buy a mini...

bp

sure, i'll buy your mini.
but just for the record, no router/crossover cable is needed. mac/windows networking is a little sketchy, but if you follow that guide correctly, it will eventually work. now and then it just doesn't detect the other computer, but after a couple tries it's basically guarenteed to work unless you literally have a broken network card.

if you're serious about selling your mini tho, gimme specs.. i'll think about it.

edit: saw specs.. 600 is a little high, i'll give you 475 shipped for it...
edit2: on the advice of a friend, i'm going to change that to 400 dollars, provided you haven't dirtied it up with your skanky hands.

I'm double posting pasting because ..I"M BUSY...

I apologize to EVERYONE....it was a very very frustrating process.Contrary to what some may think I followed everyones the instructions to a "T" until Canada (thanks)provided the missing link (which i also found in another forum link to a tutorial..not apples btw). the subnet was necassary.

I corresponed with the guy who sold me this a (who is a comp tech) and after 2 hours of trouble shooting and HE told me I needed a router.thats when i posted this... my bad...

however i still think it's imporatant to list ALL of the details. The tech found how to do the subnet ...Canada you didn't explain it just said it needed to be done (just like the tutorial did) the tech had to tell me(after he researched it I suppose).

in other words it is simple if ALL the steps are present in detail.

After all this it still has a weird glitch (or maybe it's normal) even when the subnetting and everything is correct it gives me error -36 sometimes..but if i reboot both puters it works with no changes ....

again i apologize for all the hoo hah no excuse.except....A BAD DAY,..if no one hasn't ever had one of those I'd like to meet their shrink...Thanks

Hey, it was bound to be the windows machine, I have had this problem EVERY time I have tried to get 2 new winblows machines to talk to each other the first time. you need at least 3 reboots each and some candles lit with a voodoo mantra to see it thru.
