Finally decided that I had to have an Air. Sold my old commuter, a 12" PB, last week and picked this up. I've been running CS3 and doing all the usual stuff on it and I haven't had any problems at all. Not even any noisy fan noise. Looks and feels great, only thing that bugs me a bit is how the port door doesn't sit flush. I know this is a common thing, but it seems silly that it's an issue at all.

Compared to the screen on my 17" MBP, the backlighting is much more even and easier on the eyes. While it might have a higher quality panel (it's the high-res), I'd rather stare at the MBA any day. Well, ok I'd rather be at the 30" than either, and usually am. The gloss on the MBA isn't bad either, I used to have a "raccoon" iMac and the glass front drove me nuts.

Wow, awesome pics! Are you a photographer? Because the Air looks much more ugly in real life than in your pics :D

Yes, I do photo. The Air actually looks better in person than I thought it would, as is the case with many Apple products. I didn't dig the black keys until I saw it with my own eyes. Now I prefer it to the PB & MBP keyboards. There's something inherently elegant about how the body dips down around the keyboard. I know it's just like the MB, but in aluminum it really pops. Here's a couple photos, old and new.

Test your new MBA

Congrats on your purchase!

Sorry to drag you into this, but I am trying to figure out if new MBAs do any better with respect to handling CPU load and heat dissipation than those that belong to "early adapters" like me?

Can you subject your MBA to some serious HD fun and let us know what happens?

really great pics!

Seeing the PB 12" and Air side by side, it just blows my mind that people still pine for the 12" powerbook. The Air makes the powerbook look downright boxy!

No disagreement there.

However, the PB12 has some advantages. To name a few:
  • Matte screen.
  • Built in optical drive (can get a SuperDrive).
  • 2 USB 2.0 port.
  • 1 FW400 port.
  • Pro type keyboard, which many prefer.
  • Can be carried in a smaller bag.

Of course the MBA has it's advantages as well. Don't want to get into a PB12 verses MBA debate. Just wanted to mention that for some the PB12 is a better solution and some of the reasons why.

On my old setup, I had that photo across both screens.

Wow that stand looks awesome

I think it's the best looking one out there, and I'm picky. Because of that and my recently acquired Aeron, my back is in much better shape than it was a year ago. (when I had the setup in the photo above)

Incredible photo though, especially for 1906. I wonder how they even took it, balloon maybe?

The text at the bottom-left of the photo says "from lawrence captive airship 2000 feet above san francisco bay"

Awesome photo, I can't believe the damage is revealed in such detail. Thanks for sharing it!
