Just get to play with the new alunimum one.

OMG, how could some of you here say the glossy screen is not a problem? Are you all blind? I can totally use it as a mirror, almost!

We were using it in door, light from the ceiling and it is terrible. We tried to watch a movie trailer 1080p. And everytime the scene goes pitch black, my eyes will shift focus to my mirror image. How bothersome!

Plus I always notice some white stuff in the background reflecting.

I love my matte. Period. I am never going to buy any glossy Apple product, except iPod touch.

Most think that the New Gen is a lot better. The glossy makes looking at high res content a lot better. You really don't even notice it if you don't go "looking" for reflections.
Stop trying to justify having the older model iMac. There is nothing wrong with yours. If you were in the market when the new iMac came out, you would have bought it.

Nah I would not have bought it. I have always been laughing at Dell's ultra-sharp glossy screen when Apple did not have glossy.

I was not trying to notice those reflections. Like I said, when watching a trailer and the screen goes black, and the reflection will naturally catch your eyes focus.

However, I believe some of the new iMac owners might have learned to ignore reflections.

I've had no problems with the glossy screen. The colours are a lot nicer on it.

This will not end well...

Personally, I chose the last gen model even though I could've gone with an Alu, but there's really no point in bashing people who are enjoying theirs, is there?

Can't we all just :apple: along? :D

I simply found the early review on these glossy screen irresponsible. Or are we all apple fanboys that agree with everything apple does?

I had the old one, and now I have the new one. The only thing I regret is the inability of the new iMacs to show true colors, giving me different colors when I print out photos.

How much money you have to spend on iMacs..

ur crazy the glossy screen is great. i have to squint when i use my powerbook with matte.

I'd like to know why you feel the need to tell someone else why their Mac is inferior to yours.

The screens are a matter of personal preference. If you like yours - great, but let someone else enjoy their Mac without having to justify it to you.

Move along...nothing to see here...

I feel glad they did not put glossy when I bought mine. That's it.
Plus I did not say anything until I really saw it. I was expecting something better, esp. when many people was saying the glare or reflection is nothing.

Glossy used to be an option. People who don't want glossy should be heard by apple, as matte is no longer an option.

Um, then you will never get another iMac EVER. If you think Apple is going to ever produce another matte screen iMac, think again. Apple never goes backwards.
Also, your posting is rude, you are basically calling other forum members an idiot for buying the glossy screen iMac and for you to inquire if people are blind? Who do you think you are?

Well, your iMac's ram limit is crippled, the bus speed is slower, it looks like a Fisher Price toy and the stand doesn't match the machine but does that make you blind for buying it? No, it's what you wanted so don't come here acting so superior for the purchase you made.:p

Bravo!

You're entitled to your own opinions. Many of us who actually own the new aluminum iMacs enjoy them and do not share your aversion to the glossy screen.

What is the point of your thread anyway, that you personally don't like glossy screens so anyone who reviews them positively is in error??

That's a bit closeminded, don't you think?

Enjoy your matte iMac. I had a Core Duo 20" iMac with its matte screen before this 24" aluminum and loved it. I just happen to love the new one a whole lot more and share none of your complaints about the glossy screen.

As I do some semi-pro photography work, I have a 20" ACD connected as a second monitor to my 24" iMac. I use the ACD to assure color accuracy for certain projects and printing, but to be honest, I MUCH prefer the look of photo's, as well as video, on the glossy 24". :)

It just looks better when doing slide shows or watching high def movies. In all reality, if calibrated properly, I can get identical images on both the matte 20" and the glossy 24.

Just a quick point... anything with glass in front and black behind it will serve as a mirror...

You get the same effect from a CRT showing black (maybe just a little warped because of the shape), and no-one ever complained about them since the dawn of time.

Get over the glossy screen.

Oh, and is the only glossy apple product you would buy an iPod touch so that it can double as a mirror to put in your hand-bag?

I really didn't think I'd like the glossy screen on my Macbook, but after using it for almost a year, I can say that it grows on you. Use the machine for a bit and the reflections will go unnoticed. They are just very apparent to you now since it's different from your current machine.

The only problems I've had with the glossy screen is outside in the sun, but then again matte doesn't do much for that either.
