I THINK the OP has the initial post solved somehow, and I also am not sure what that issue really was.
My take on that post is that the OP was trying to use a variety of apps, yet struggled with the Finder "randomly" coming to the front.
I also think that using the app switcher helped OP, or at least that was what I think post #14 said.
Then, the OP sort of sits back and waits for the "Great Finder Discussion" to settle down.

Just noticed later posts. Truth to tell the problem was trying to use ANY function at all with a Finder that just stayed solid and would not let anything else happen I could get Safari but only if I used Hide Finder, and even then Finder would recur randomly and knock out the search result. Quite a few things were corrected when I took the 'risk' of uninstalling and reloading ElCapitan - so smooth and easy as it turned out.

Only other thing I noticed was that the shaky screen hesitancy I had on start up vanished when I killed off the sign in name and password requirement. After that, everythihg went to correct one click functioning. One thing I learned when working on main frame systems is: never question miracles when they happen - even if the loyal local staff enjoy having manufacturers visiting to see how we were doing things even they did not know their stuff could do.

Four phrases staffers were encouraged to live by 1. Let's try it and see what happens 2. These things are just high speed idiots (the computers, that is, not the makers) 3 You can kid these things rotten 4 The Prime Directive: If you make a mistake NEVER try to cover it up. Tell us and we will sort it as a team
