Do you mean wirelessly to icloud. Does that do a complete image?

Yep, wirelessly to the cloud. It's a complete image, although I would think they only upload changes. It's literally a mirror image, you get a new phone and restore it and you would have no idea at all that it was restored. That incredible ease of recovering your phone information, setup, etc is one reason why Apple is so strong. Mind you I don't use an iPhone, I just highly admire their recovery process and wonder why slacker Google doesn't implement something like it.

Does it take care of the photo thing though?

Smart switch is pretty decent, but it's not even close to Apple. With Apple you would never know you switched phones, no extra work setting anything up, nothing whatsoever, it's a complete mirror image. That's one thing I miss. I can't see that being that difficult for Google to implement in the OS.

Agree about the bezels but it has its flaws as well. There are plenty of times I unlock my phone without holding it in my hand--for instance resting on a table/counter or in my car dock. Especially with the car dock, I wouldn't be able to use the scanner.

Also, it's far more ergonomic for Tap to Pay with the front position since in most cases, I'm tapping the payment terminal exactly where my finger would be on the rear panel.

IMO, the ideal solution is integration of the functionality into the front display and it sounds like that's not too far off. Until then though, I'd rather have it where Apple and Samsung position it.
Great points tbayrgs. Didn't factor in mobile payments! That would not work for mobile payments with the scanner in the back.
When I pick up my IP6+ or S6 it still would be easier to use my index finger to unlock my phone then switch the phone around in my hand to use my thumb. For me it would mean less positioning the phone around in my hand.
Locating the scanner on the screen will be a game changer! Rumors are Apple is working on it maybe for the IP7!

Have you tried it? How long does it take? When I connect my iphone to my imac to restore a phone from a backup it takes maybe 15 minutes at most. So you are saying you can restore a iphone from an icloud image wirelessly without connecting to a computer?

Yes to your last question, though it does take longer than via wired connection to one's computer. Can't tell you exactly how much longer as I haven't done it in a while.

Yes I used it for years. An initial backup can take some time, maybe 30-60 minutes. After that it's pretty fast, maybe 5-10 minutes depending on what you've added. Of course that depends on your WiFi and internet connection speed.

Using Smart Switch to back up to my comp.

Pretty nice interface. Very simple. Clean. Easy to set up. It's still backing up now... When it's done, I'll do a full factory reset, then restore the back up. Hopefully all goes well, and hopefully I'll see that "instant" finger print unlock everyone else seems to be enjoying.

Everyone here knows I am a big Android and Samsung fan. But I think TouchID on my 6+ is better than anything else on the market right now. My personal experience using the S6 and 6+ the 6+ wins. I don't like the large bezels on the 6+ but they enable the round fingerprint scanner to exist. IMHO the round scanner is better because it allows better scanning angles and faster unlocks.
I can't wait for the scanner to be incorporated onto the screen!

Really? And it'll keep everything the same? Like all my photos will still be sorted into their proper order/dates? It won't just be July 9th, and a massive photo dump of all my photos?

Cause that's the main thing. Apps, etc, I can always reinstall and replace easily.

Thanks for the suggestion. Please tell me more if you've had experiene with Smart Switch. If it's possible, I would like to factory reset.
All your photos, music, apps will be fine only issue is won't keep them as you had them. Meaning you will have to sort out your pages again

I used it the other day from note 4 to S6 edge

What you nervous about?

It's still restoring, but nothing is changing on my phone. When the restore is done... do I then see the changes?

EDIT: Oh, ya... it's happening gradually. Interesting...

EDIT 2: Including photos going back to the dates they're supposed to go to. YAY! This was my main concern.

If photos and music is your concern I wouldn't worry :)

Ya, all back. Phew.

Too bad it didnt' restore my home screens/widgets the way they were. Everything else seems fine.

Anyway... i'll see how the finger print scanner is over the next day or two. Early impressions: still not instant.

Seems a hair faster now.

Edit: nope not really. Feels the same. A little slow and a noticeable delay when unlocking into an app.
