Mine works fine for a couple of days after scanning and then stops. After removing the stored fingerprints and re-scanning it again works fine for a couple of days and then stops. Very frustrating !
Same here. Wife's New Imac same issue. She erases the current finger prints, then it works for a day then stops! Apple gave her a NEW Keyboard same thing!

My issue with the finger print key is that when I press to unlock, the screen goes black. I then have to press any other key for the screen to come on and for it to ask me to scan finger print.

So, what's the process to unlock using the finger print key when the screen savers on or is sleeping?

Do I press the unlock Key? Or simply touch my finger on it?

I believe you just rest your finger on the fingerprint reader key...
Nope. When the mac is in sleep mode or screen is black, simply resting the finger on the fingerprint reader does nothing. You have to press a key / wake.the screen and then rest your finger on the fingerprint key. I'd have thought pressing the sensor key and with the unlock finger would've been a better way of doing it.

To confirm, I just tested it with a MBP 16", running Monterey. The unit was in sleep mode (I used Control + Command + Q), went to the toilet, came back and rested (did not press) my finger on the fingerprint reader/power button. Within a second the unit was awake and logged in...

I gosh! I hope I don't have a faulty one. Last thing I need!

Are there settings I can change that could make it work this way?

I don't know about anyone else, but after I installed Ventura 13.1 on a MacBook Pro 2019 and 2021, and then I redid my index finger-fingerprint on each, I have had ZERO trouble for more than a week! The 2019 was especially nasty, fingerprint wouldn't even work for a day. Both have been flawless. I don't know if it was 13.1, or I do try to be very firm laying my finger on the button now, or something else, but it's perfect now (so far lol). I hope others are having some good luck with this!

For me, Ventura recognising my finger print is not an issue. The issue iwhen I press the finger print key when the device is sleeping, I need to press the sensor key twice as on the first press the the screen goes black again. But if it's in screen saver mode I just need to touch the key and not press it and it works fine.
