Other Firefox Dynasty - Firefox for OS X 10.8+ (Also, Web App Templates!)

There is something wrong with the downloader, the downloaded app crashes. But if I download directly from Github, it works. 2009 iMac C2D and macOS 10.13.6.

Thanks! 10.13 is too new to use the downloader, which is tested on 10.7 - 10.9.
 
By the way, I'm using Dynasty 134 - should I always upgrade or is it ok to stay with an earlier version for now, particularly if it does everything I need from it?.
 
I just installed the latest from GitHub -
FIREFOX_141_0_BUILD1 Latest

and got this message when I tried to start it up -

Very strange, and I have reverted to the previous version which works fine.

Unibody MacBook running Mojave by the way ;)

Actually the previous version is no longer working fine and I am unable to see any images on websites :(

I will try and restore my profile from backup and see if that helps.

It seems that restoring a backup profile has made things work again - was it installing the latest version as above that wrecked things?

What was your "previous version"? If your previous version was in fact a beta version, Firefox would see upgrading to a stable version as a "downgrade" and throw up that message you saw.
 
However although the previous version was downloaded as v 140.0, "Get Info" shows it as

which might explain matters :D

If I go back to v 139 which accurately names itself, I can then update to 141?

I have a imac 2010 27" which is stuck on macOS 10.13, can firefox dynasty work on this machine?
 
how is it possible to make firefox work on such old macs? is it hard? and if it is not hard then why doesn't firefox do it themselves?

It's been happening for a very long time. You ever heard of TenFourFox? That was a project to allow Firefox to run on PPC Macs long after Intel.

You'll have to ask the various developers how hard it is. But bear in mind every couple of releases of Mac OS bring in security and other features which compel developers to update their browser software.

Mozilla are arguably the best in supporting older OS's via the ESR versions of Firefox which see them minimally updated to ensure they still run, even without all the bells and whistles of newer versions.
 
Hm, unfortunately it doesn't work for me on Lion. After launching the app, the menu bar switches to firefox, but the window remains invisible and stuck with the spinning magneto disk.
 
I don’t believe just swapping some files around would work for this. Totally different “era” of Firefox with too many changes to the UI. I could be wrong though as i never tried.

Firefox Dynasty 141.0.3 works perfectly for me on macOS 10.11 El Capitan.

I also installed Seamonkey 2.53.21 and it works well, too.
 
Dynasty 142 (Little Snitch installed) - suddenly getting Accept Modification, Deny Any Connection, Disable Identity Check for many usually unproblematic outgoing connections, such as to telemetry, bitdefender...etc. Probably harmless to accept modification, but... it's also possible that the program has been replaced with malware....?

App no change, exact same profile. Nothing at all changed on my end.

EDIT: moved over profile, app, and Little Snitch configuration rules from Mini High Sierra, where there was no such problem. No idea which was responsible - possibly profile had somehow become corrupt? - but seems to be OK now at iMac High Sierra. No more "program has been modified," or "wants to connect".

I haven't seen that message after I downloaded and installed Firefox Dynasty 142 on OS X 10.11.

As far as I know, Firefox Dynasty isn't signed by Apple - you have to change the app security settings to run it in OS X 10.11.
