Firmware update 3.5.1 for AirPods is now available

Checking AirPods' firmware version: Connect your AirPods to your iPhone and go to Settings > General > About > AirPods.

Updating your AirPods: Put AirPods inside their case and connect it to a charger. Wait for a couple of minutes.

I plugged my AirPods in to charge and sat my iPhone next to them.

A few minutes later, I checked Settings>General>About>AirPods (with the AirPods case open) and saw the new firmware version.

I can't even find how to check the firmware level on my iPhone - I can't see an option for AirPods in the list.

Really hope this new firmware fixes the disconnection problem I'm having on my iPhone 6s Plus.

Just been out for a test walk. Still got the same problem with disconnections (iPhone 6s plus).

Bummer.

Looks like the update addresses the standby case drain. It doesn't show the lightning bolt ⚡️ at 100% anymore.

I'm going to update mine when I get home from work.

While I've had 3 sets, and these have now been fine. I've been too scared to use them with a different device, incase it is the sync and connection that is causing the issues.

Will be nice to use them as they were intended after the update :)

I don't see Airpods listed, what version of iOS does one need to be on or does that even matter?

My Airpods are connected via BT.

They might have just removed the graphic tbf. Need to wait some time to see if anything has actually happened

You don't need to connect it to a charger to update. You just need to make sure your AirPods are in the case and connected via BT to your phone.

If you aren't seeing your AirPods in the About section, open/close the case a few times. It'll show up.

Mine still have not updated and it has been an hour. AirPods are in case and connected to power and iPhone 7 plus that is connected to wifi.

And I have restarted my phone

If you didn't start this thread I wouldn't have noticed it. Everything seemed normal in Airpod operation today
