After researching all reported issues with Big Sur, I am going to stay with Catalina until Big Sur reaches .3 or .4 update. I also delayed the upgrade to Mojave after 10.14.3 became available. For all it's worth: I see growing anecdotal evidence that for unknown reasons regression issues are becoming a concern in Apple's Mac OS software.

If you read all the threads after Catalina came out you'd find all the same type issues and complaints and if you went back to even older ones you'd find the same. Personally, I think it is smoother and faster than Catalina - don't care for all the design changes but got used to it quickly

This is a very small thing but I don't care for the "wallpaper" of the Log In screen:

Is there a way to replace the background with a photo. I did that on my old 2014 MacBook Pro but cannot figure it out on this new 2020 Pro.

Mike
You're supposed to replace it with your wanted picture in some special folder that requires admin password. I did but it doesn't work. I still see this lame image every time. Just google "how to change start up image mac os big sur". Maybe you'll be lucky.
