Battery problems taken care of, randomly shutting down... meh, one relevant problem so far, but then again, who comes to MR mostly?
Whine --> Addressed 7 months after the issue began. Denied until then. That leaves how many MBP's out with the issue? Several hundred thousand? Not resolved. Their resolution is to take your computer for a week, which is unacceptable.
Discoloration --> Addressed several months after the issue began. Again, you have to send it in for repair. No returns / exchanges.
Paint peeling --> Who cares if it happened on PowerBooks, how does that make it ok?
Burning your lap --> Never happened on any of the Dells I've used. And that includes ones with Core Duo processors.
Battery problems --> Too late for some people, isn't it? Yes, this is the one thing that Apple has done properly with the recall. No downtime.
Random shutdowns --> Huge problem, and growing in frequency apparently as MBs and MBPs age. It's not just an annoying whine. Apple's solution? Send it in for repair... MULTIPLE TIMES! Apparently they really have no idea what the problem is... doing stupid things like replacing the hard drive.
And yes, yes, we are the vocal minority. The issue is less the problems faced and more Apple's proposed resolution.
Again, my comparison is with a car dealer. If you buy a new car and it has some kind of issue 3 months after you buy it... you take it to the dealer. If they can't fix it in a day, they give you a rental car to use... because YOU NEED the car to drive.
Apple will take your car for a month and have you taking the bus.
