I'm just as sceptical as the next iPhone user about WinMo. But, I think HTC has the right idea with TouchFlo, and now the addition of HTC Sense. They have made some great looking graphics with features that don't require the crap stick a.k.a. stylus. I hate the term "iPhone Killer", but at the end of the day this device looks like it can be an alternative to the iPhone AND then some. I don't think any video does a device justice, but until I get my hands on one to see just how responsive and snappy it is, the videos will have to do and it looks sweet.

Oh, you meant the HD2, lol. I've seen a ton of videos of that thing, over at pocketnow, lol.
Great hardware, needs to be running Android though.

And dumbed down just like they did for the Hero on Sprint.. ugliest thing I have ever seen.. the European Hero being about the best looking phone ever...

Oh yeah, In My Opinion. ;)

Those bastards! I want a smarter phone, not a dumber one.

I love HTC and I think there one lf the only handset makers who truly knows what original means next to apple. But lately they have been pumping out new phones like a pregnant woman pisses. Gosh I can't even keep allthese names straight, htc touch, htc touch 2, htc hd2 touch 3g, htc yazd yadda...

I was so upset when I saw that. How can they consider it the same phone when it's so ugly? I love the euro HTC Hero but it's only 2100/900 3G so inwould be stuck on EDGE with it and well you 2G iPhone owners know how painful that is....

Everyone who knows me knows how much I love my iPhone and pretty much disregard any other phone that claims to be an "iphone killer," but I have to say the HD2 is really impressive. Some of its features look like an obvious rip off the iPhone, but I think it also adds some great new features. The design looks better than the iPhone IMO, but it could be that i'm just getting tired of the current design, I guess we'll have to wait and see what Apple comes out with next summer.

Well said. I agree with you.

2 years later and XX,XXX attempts, they finally almost have a worthy competitor?

I agree competition is good but keep in mind, we are not too far away from the 4G iPhone which will hopefully send the other guys back to the drawing boards.
While we will likely get a G4 (4th gen iPhone) next year it will probably be a couple of years before 4G is ready.

It's shame too, because physically the device is a pretty attractive piece of hardware. A bit large, but for HTC, it's really well put together. It would be worth a look if only it ran Android. Probably still not as good as an iPhone, but I would rate this hardware with Android 2.0 as probably better than the Droid.

The ironic thing is, the HD2 basically is Windows Mobile trying really hard to look like Android. Sooo... why even use WinMo?

It's also kinda sad that 1GHz processor is required to match the smoothness of other mobile operating systems. A testament to the amazing bloat of Windows Mobile.

LOL, isn't discussing the differences between Android and Windows Mobile like discussing two different shades of the same color?

I had the original HTC Touch on sprint and I loved that thing! It was the closest thing to the iPhone at the time in my opinion (even though it was still far off). I like where HTC is going but I think they need to slow down and focus on making one amazingly strong phone and not a ton of somewhat strong phones. I sure their sales are great though because even some of their weaker phones are pretty awesome!

I don't think there can be a iphone killer. it has too much of a head start and the apple store. but I see it loosing ground because apple is way to strict with it and really had not made any big improvements. we get little ones and ones that should have been there in little bits and pieces to keep people from going but never really giving them a great improvement.
until apple feels the pinch we will not get anything really big.

I couldn't tell if you were being serious or not...

If you are: the HD2's dimensions are only slightly larger than the iPhone.

If you are joking: you're not funny.

Define "slightly larger". There are plenty of pics showing this thing next to an iPhone, and it is huge.

In addition, it runs windows mobile. No thanks.

The HD2 is a very nice phone, coupled with brilliant hardware. However, software is not up to par and the OS is yester-year. Snapdragon is fast but the name sounds ..
