Ok cool good info ...I will surely be checking mine upon arrival and returning if there is an issue...they cover shipping correct?
I wonder how many they will return until they give you something new lol but knowing apple never lol.

yes they cover shipping....you prin the shipping label and send it on its way..i should be getting my replacement on monday... what bothers me is they flat out told me to expect LCD displays

I purchased the i5 refurb and it's a pretty darn fast machine. Rendering video several times faster than my old machine... screen is beautiful. no blemishes that I could see. The Seagate HDD isn't the quietest that I have ever heard but it's certainly no deal breaker.

Props on the order! :apple:

yup..seagate is def not the quietest..returned mine and hoping for a WD

The 3.06 I got is the core duo. It's quick, especially next to my G5. I realize it's no i7 but it's also about 450$ less. If it bothers me too much I'll do an i7 next year as the price drops. Since all tech is out dated in no more than 6 months after purchase I'm cool with it. The 8th of ram has helped too and is a cheep add on.

Well I finally got her today and this thing is damn beautiful....I have ONE DEAD PIXEL in the bottom right corner...no way im returning it for that.....I dont know about the yellowing i mean im not going to do a test especially if I dont notice it obviously.

i called AppleCare and they said i need to bring it to my local authorized repair shop to check about "hardware" related issues for yellowing. the thing is, im STILL under my 14 day return/exchange period and they expect me to bring it for repair. WTF?

ive got a yellow tint at the bottom....dont know if its worth sending back at all.

I ended up doing the test decided it return it because of it scratching disks as well took it in to get repaired....then they fixed it all up and I called just to hear that while they were doing the repair the broke my front glass, so it would be an extra day. No biggie, so after picking it up an getting it home I find out I have a 2mm gap between my screen and the aluminum on one sided that gets slightly smaller as you go around the machine, then the opposite side is gaped in some places and flush in others.

As you can imagine I was pissed I call the authorized apple repair and they say so sorry bring it back. I am mad because this thing isnt light and is on campus. all in all They say hey we cant get it to lay flush and there are 2 options we can take photos and send to apple so they can tell us whats wrong with the glass they sent us and probably ship us out another piece.

Or (an here is the kicker) you can take it as it is as the techs said that there is no mechanical problem with having the gap and its just cosmetic...

HAHAH lmbo I was like :rolleyes::mad: at the same time and said you know what I will take neither option. Told the guy to hold on why I made a phone call...ended up telling him I was calling apple and to give me my computer back. After going through the hierarchy of people at apple they agreed to just mail me another imac. So its to be shipped as soon as they get confirmation that fedex has the one thats messed up.

I guess if this one is messed up I may just get my money back as I REFUSE TO TAKE it to the apple repair store that broke more than they fixed. There are no more close by and im tired of waiting for shipping.

It is rather a shame that your iMac experience has been anything but smooth. Let us know if the new iMac is any better.

Will do. I love apple products but s some have sad the commonality of the 27in is saddening.
My fingers are seriously crossed as the machine worked wonderfully just didn't like to have to compensate for something that cost so much.
