That so freaked me out just got them and never heard anything like that in my life.
So I was reading this on my Mac and decided to switch over to my iPhone before playing the video (opened the MacRumours thread in Safari via handoff). I had recently finished listening to another YouTube video on the Mac, so the Max were still on my head.OMG listening to this on APM is spatial bliss
Anyway, I hit play on the phone right from the browser. And I could hear this far away music coming from forward-top-left (roughly where iMac sits relative to where my phone was sitting on the desk) and could swear somehow I had switched audio output to my iMac's speakers and was hearing those external speakers through the headphones.
Nope, headphone auto switching magic had kicked in (as it should have.) Combing that with that song's far away single channel directional sound on opening – and somewhat lower volume on the phone – it really confused my brain for a solid 15 seconds. This story probably doesn't make much sense. Anyway, it was wild. Thanks for the ride.
To contribute to the thread (which I am lurking for song ideas): I can't recall what I song I listened to first, but I did stream Star Trek 2009 within my first session as I enjoy the soundtrack a lot and figured it would be nice to check out the Spatial Audio with a movie right out of the gate.
I was listening in my car at the time (charging) so I also blasted the fans to full to briefly pseudo-simulate airplane noise cancelling.
