That looks like a very nice case, but the pictures reveal that it covers the power button, which would not be good for the Air 4 with its TouchID. So the case is probably meant for the Pro and also happens to fit the Air. That’s too bad because I was considering it until I noticed that.
I was just looking at reviews for it on Amazon and the vast majority say Touch ID works well. Some mentioned it could be finicky but most had no issues and say the case was specifically designed to accommodate that area for Touch ID.

I’ve had various Zugu cases over the years and find them to be exceptional. The owner of the company, Tim Angel (I may have that wrong) will communicate directly with you if there’s a problem and replace anything you have an issue with. A few years ago he had a case coming out for one of the iPads and had taken preorders but ran into some production delays. So he sent out to everyone who ordered, another case that was similar. He told us all just to keep those and then got the new ones out a couple weeks later. I’ve never seen a company do that before. I can’t recommend them more highly. Great products and great company.

Oh cool, thanks for the feedback. Sounds like a good company for sure.

I watched a video and it looks like that area is cut out with the power button recessed so you’d have to get used to getting your finger in the recess correctly. I have a similar case and as long as I point my finger in straight it works well. If you really have fat fingers you might have to play around a bit to get it right.

One small issue so far: iTunes does not detect my iPad. I tested on another machine (not my own), and it picks it up. Meanwhile, I know Windows detects it because it shows up in File Explorer.

I have a phone call with Apple Support tonight, so we'll see what happens.

Aw that sucks. Good luck on the call today. I got the adapter @rui no onna suggested from Amazon yesterday and luckily I had no issues. Heck the adapter even charged the iPad while I was loading it with music (which was a nice bonus) even though the seller stated it wouldn’t charge.
It worked like a charm and I feel a ton better now that that issue is out of the way. Nice to be able to load my personal music on such an expensive device.

Best of luck with resolving your issue. Please do report back.

I ended up resolving the issue myself before the call.

Seems like there was an old driver for some reason, with no way to update it. Someone told me to download 3uTools to detect the old driver issue, and it fixed my issue right away.

After that, iTunes was picking up my iPad just as it should. :)

Glad to hear your issue was resolved too! @Bea220

I’m so glad it worked out! Thank you for allowing me to borrow your thread for my issue. I’m so stoked to have my iPad full of my music. Hardly made a dent in my storage too.?

iPhone yes screen protectors are needed ,iPad I don't think its needed if you wont be taking it out of the house.. if u have kids who will be using it that is a different story. You don't need to buy an apple branded case or Smart Cover there's plenty of alternatives on Amazon and in stores. the speck presidiovbalance folio is great, and for extra protection defender pro is a beast and it looks awesome on my space grey iPad

I decided on a bit of a whim to purchase an iPad Air for recreational use: movies, gaming (emulation), browsing, etc.

1. Any tips/tricks for someone who's relatively familiar with iOS? I've used iPads in the past, just never owned my own. I'm familiar with the basic multi-tasking features and such.
2. Thoughts on getting a screen protector? I probably won't be taking it out of the house much, if at all.
3. Thoughts on a case? Budget is ~$50.

Looking forward to seeing how this thing works as my "in bed" device.
I've had my own iPad Air, but this is an old model (1st gen) that came out in 2013! (so it's from 8/eight years ago!). Still...

1- 5 fingered gestures are convenient...
Pinch to close an app.
IIRC, reverse pinch to open the last app you had open?
Swipe up to bring up the app switcher
Swipe left or right to switch between apps

I'm assuming you know how to make folders: long press on an app or folder. When it's in "jiggle mode", move the app over another to create a folder

2- I never bothered with one. For my personal use case, I'm careful with it (won't be giving it to kids to use). I don't mind minor scuffles. I won't be reselling it either (I'll use it until it's no longer practical to do so). Also too lazy to apply them. Last one I had was for my iPod Touch 5.

3- Ditto with #2 above. Not giving it to kids, so much less likely to need that protection. A case for me would make it bulkier. IIRC, you shouldn't have overheating with an iPad, but in case it does come up, taking it out of the case does help ease those issues (which is similar advice with phones).
