I think it'd be nice to have a "click to flash" option like on the macs. I agree flash is a resource hog, but right now, many websites are still dependent on it. And IMO HTML5 isn't really a good replacement; yea it's fine for things like youtube, but there are non-video oriented uses for flash too.

Also, Android seems to handle flash quite gracefully, and since the iPad has been proven to be faster than the Nexus One, it should be able to handle flash just fine. I bet even the 3G S would handle it okay too. The original CPU devices probably couldn't handle it though, my ipod touch 1G can barely handle safari as it is.

And once Apple rolls out Admob or Quattro or whichever ad company they bought out you will once again see all the same ads only you still won't be able to view video on your favorite websites...congrats

Guess what OS 4.0 is bringing? Advertsing

Leak: Apple to show ad platform at iPhone 4.0 event

The ad platform will be something for developers to implement into their apps, kind of like how AdMob is already implemented into some free apps. Advertisers on websites aren't going to be putting iPhone/iPad specific ads in place of their flash ads anytime soon.

So even after 4.0 you can continue browsing without flash baggage bringing you down, all while more online video providers find ways to cater to iPad users.
