so before you get mad about the title, read this :p I like many others am rather annoyed that the ipad doesnt have flash. I mean come on is it really that hard?
But after looking at this chart (link below) maybe it really is becoming outdated. I have NO doubts that putting flash on the ipad would make it 10 times better, but the chart in this article is rather eye opening.

The problem is that Flash isn't just used for videos. There's a lot of non-video Flash content on the web that can't be viewed. That to me is the most annoying part. Large swaths of blankness on certain webpages.

Although that is true, the problem with Flash as it is is the blow to battery life. The iPad would go from a 10 hour lifespan to somewhere around 2-3 hours max.

I find that hard to believe, the new galaxy tab 10.1 got within 30 minutes of the ipads battery life on a video drain test. and it has flash. and its thinner.

Well of course flash wont drain the battery when it's not it use...

so there ya go, put flash on the ipad and it would only drain the battery when people use it. and its up to them when they use it. still got my point across :b

but anyways, getting back on topic. People say you need flash for videos, uhh just go to youtube or netflix app. and you definitely do not need flash for games. just download a game. so that leaves 1 thing that you need flash for. and thats the certain websites that need it. but thats not a very big issue...

Netflix is available on the iPad, and it doesn't use flash.

I think the point was more that only a small percentage of net traffic is flash video, so maybe it's not as essential as it seems.

I do wish I could play my flash games sometimes... The farmville app sucks. :(

i dunno if you could say that it's not a big issue, depends on what sites you visit.

the playbook ads heavily focus on the flash aspect, about 40% of the sites that i regularly visit use flash and i don't even do a lot of online shopping or interactive stuff.

Apple decided they didn't want to put the energy into making Flash work on the iOS platform. We all know going in, that none of the iOS devices use flash, so I don't buy this argument that their are huge holes on the web. You can use your laptop, desktop computer for that. The iPad/iPhone is not the only way to view the web. You have plenty of other options.

If Flash really is that important, why do iPads sell so well? I would have thought the free market would let Apple know, "we want Flash" by not buying iPads.

The reality is, plenty of people do not think this is a real issue. Just a select few here on Macrumors.

Apple isn't about choice, it's about what Steve decides is best for you.

Or maybe every product has functions and limitations determined by the people who offer them for sale; and most people are free to weigh the pros and cons of consumer devices and take them or leave them based on their own priorities. Apple is under no obligation to accommodate every desire you have. Or maybe the thing you said, who knows, right?

It really is simple, if you have a genuine need to view lots of flash sites, don't buy an iPad, get something else. It really is that simple. There are enough of us who couldn't care less about flash sites to ensure Apple will continue to sell tens of millions of iPads each year

It's not that big an issue iPhones have lasted 4 years with out flash.

There's less websites built solely on flash now many videos are HTML5 now and YouTube apps.

Many will argue it makes the iPad fall behind but seriously the flash website thing fell about 2003. Other than Facebook games who really needs flash? Get over it.

Professional webcasts

I have not been able to view certain webcasts when I wasn't home to access them on my computer. It's not only games that require flash - some of the academic conference webcasts also require it. I wouldn't change my iPhone or iPad2 for flash, but it's frustrating when I find I can't access something I expected to be able to watch.

Gave you a "+1" to balance out the undeserved "-1" someone gave you.

Again I'm reading this type of thread in amazement. A few people don't use flash and they vehemently tell the rest to "get over" flash because of HTML5 etc.

I've had both iPads and nothing but iPhones since 2009 and I've managed to do without or find workarounds...however it's not really the point. It's a limitation that doesn't necessarily need to be there. The battery life argument is BS if you consider that you could easily toggle flash playback for when you need it. I live in hope that once it's been sussed out for Android devices a Jailbreak patch might find it's way over to Cydia...however I won't be holding my breath.

Personally, I have no use for Flash. I block it on my Macs, and certainly don't need it on a portable device. It's just a non issue. The Ipad would not be any more useful to me, if it supported flash.

Cloud browse let's you view flash content!!!!! Only time I use it is when one of my friends with an android phone comments on iPads lack of flash!!!!
Have you tried to view a flash heavy site on one of these flash enabled droids?????? Try viewing the site for the band tool. My buddy's evo got stuck!!!! I pulled it up on my iPhone 4 using cloud browse!!!!!!

At this poi t it doesn't matter adobe caved before apple (like they ever were going to) a new version of flash is being developed for all devices that don't have it or can't install it, like the sky fire app adobe is taking the video and then converting it to html5. They do it on there servers and it is all on there end so when sites update there flash when this new version is released then it will work on iPad, adobe even demonstrated it on an iPad just search it on google or on this site it was posted. The problem with flash was that it is a bit slower on mobile devises, it eats a decent amount of battery and there is other content on sites like ads and such that make it even slower. I do use it on my mac though only because my imac can handle it with ease and power isnt too much of a concern But like I said it doesn't matter too much anymore.

I think Flash would be helpful in education. I'm a teacher and the grade book program we use is Flash (at least the grade portion). There are also a lot of games and interactive lessons that teachers use that are Flash.

For personal use I have never missed not having Flash. When I bought the iPad I was worried about this and it hasn't been an issue. The sad thing is that I wasn't planning on using it in school and I use it all the time now.

I get around the grade book issue by using LogMeIn Ignition. I just get on my home computer and enter grades on there, it's just a little laggy, and also takes a little longer to get into.

Where are you guys getting this flash battery drain FUD? I've been using flash on my Evo,Galaxy Tab and Xoom and it doesn't impact battery life anymore than watching videos or playing games. The only reason Apple doesn't allow it on idevices is because it allows devs to bypass the App store.

Yup I got a MBP and I love it, I have also owned an iPhone along with ipad 1&2 before switching to Android. And yes, flash works great on both my Xoom,Evo and worked just fine on my tab before I got rid of it.
