flash battery issues and poor performance are old issues that have been addressed and fixed by adobe. Time to get over that. I have both mac pro and ipad2 along with NS4G phone. Mac Pro and NS4G with latest flash releases from adobe work without any issues. There are some apps that I would like to use on my Ipad2 that are adobe air apps and it doesn't work. I still like the ipad right now but with latest announcements and releases in android tablets i have a feeling that my ipad2 would be gone within a year

I feel you,IMO Apple's arrogant policies will be their downfall. There is no good reason for the absurd amount of restrictions placed on iOS devices, and after Kindle,Netflix and other popular apps leave the app store when the subscription policy deadline hits even the most ardent kool aid drinkers will be up in arms. Apple makes beautiful hardware, but I find iOS really bland and uninspiring compared to Android.

They won't leave simply because of the sheer number of ios users that exist now. its not economical for them to leave as someone will replace them. Apple's only advantage is the number of users. That is why developers and content providers put up with that BS that apple pulls.

I have NO doubts that putting flash on the ipad would make it 10 times better

Not! As much as I use a computer and the Net, I've found very few times that I miss Flash when using my iPad. Of course it wouldn't hurt to have the option, but as already pointed out, iPhones and iPads are hardly suffering so far from lack of Flash, and Flash will probably be outdated before either device will be.

Not completly.

iOS users buy apps and a lot of them. Android users do not, for the most part, spend nearly as much on apps**. Just because you have a ton of users, does not mean you have a ton of paying users. So you would need several times as many Andoid users as iOS users to equal the same revenue.

**I'm not going to post links, just google it. I've read several articles over a period of time which back this up, but I have nothing to directly reference this.

Back on topic, in regards to Flash, our company does interactive presentations in Flash, and currently an iOS browser like Swifter or Puffin play them back, at a higher frame rate, than any of the current top-shelf Android tablets can. This is not tested on the new 10.3 Flash that just dropped.

I have only been an iOS user for one year, but in that year, I have not missed flash. There has been one website I've gone too that required me to load it up in my Skyfire browser to get the flash video to run, and other than that, it's been a non-issue. All the other video I look at has an HTML5 version or an app of its own to stream the video.

I use the BBC news website for all my news requirements and many of the stories are accompanied by videos that don't work...its the only reason I miss flash on the pad.

Ohhh, Hi there, I'm UK Surrey also ;)

I was really annoyed the other day. I wanted to lay on my bed and watch a Channel 4 show on my iPad using the new Ch4 catchup TV app.

I went on their catchup website and saw the program I wanted to watch.
Turned off my TV, and got all settled down to watch the show on my iPad. Only to find it was not there.
I read later that most of the TV shows on their main wed site are in Flash, and only a very small selection are in another format viewable on the iPad app.

So another disappointment, meaning I can't use the iPad to watch any of those shows :(

iSwifter won't work for UK geoblocked sites if the "conversion" is done on US based servers. That was an issue with Skyfire as well.

And the quality doesn't compare at all to native Flash in my experience (tested at home with very strong wifi compared to a Best Buy Playbook).
