But can you actually read all the files inside? It's good to test it in MacOS. The disc shows up doesn't mean that it can work properly.
Yup, it booted in my MacBook. And there's nothing wrong with the DVD drive in my Pro either....

Might well give refit a go...

well if you have pulled all pci cards apart from 1 gpu (and tried both gpu),
all drives apart from 1
and cant boot from the boot disc then it's a pickle ill say.

id do it by setting the dvd as boot disc, shut down, pull all HD's apart from the SSD for windoz, reboot
then hotkeys not needed
(think thats how i did it)

you may need the rx580 to boot ? (effi or something on gpu?)
but if you still have no luck i relay dont know,

Thought I'd just jump in here are share some things that have been going on with my system. Much like the @wonderspark , just after the Christmas period my Windows drive started playing up. I was unable to select my Windows disk in the 'Startup Disk' preference pane. Mac OS just keeps telling me that "The bless tool was unable to set the current boot disk". Additional to that it would always fail to boot at least once when holding down the Option key. I have a feeling that one of my peripherals was causing that issue, and if I make sure that it's not plugged in to a USB port when selecting the disk is seems to result in success more often than not when holding down the Option key

I have a spare drive in my Mac Pro 5.1, so installed a fresh copy of Mac OS High Sierra, formatted my old Mac OS install and installed a fresh version of Windows 10 on that drive. Exactly the same problem. It's worth mentioning that it took three times to install a copy of Windows that wouldn't go direct to the repairing/diagnosing screen during boot.

I can still fire up Windows by holding the Option key during boot, but it strikes me as very fishy that it's all just stopped working. If I had to put a date on it it would probably be around the time that the Spectre fix came out.

Anyway, just thought I'd share what's going on with me. Not sure it's entirely relevant...but misery likes company! ;)

Since 2014 I Haven't used BootCamp .. I remove all HDDs exept my Windows target drive and do a clean install from Win 7 or 8.1 and since then no problems whatsoever. This is good for me as I rarely ever need to use Windows but if I do have to use it . .it always boots up without any problems.

Win 8.1 is finicky as it must be formatted differently to Win 7. Took me a while to work it out but now comes as 2nd. nature.

Adventures in troubleshooting pt....whatever...
Tried reformatting the Windows drive with MBR rather than GUID. Nope, Winclone wouldn't restore to it. Restored again, no joy, just hanging at the boot screen again. Also tried booting the DVD from my Blu-ray drive (USB enclosure). Ditto. Installed rEFInd (I think) but haven't got it working yet. Plain English documentation would have been helpful.

Edit: rEFInd worked, but Windows still wouldn't boot, so I removed it again (pain being unable to boot direct into HS when that's the default!).

well bootcamp is useless unless you want to install on to the same drive as osx, or you do that hack thing to force efi boot which iv read can give problems.

i still think if dvd not working it's worth making a new DVD, good trouble shooting step.

also if you still have windows on your old drive you can clone the drive on to the SSD (i did that with my last HD>SSD win move) or from windows make a usb instal drive then use that to install

There's no issue with the DVD (except it not working in the MP) so I won't bother making another one- it boots in my MacBook OK. The (original) 8.1 DVD doesn't work in the MP either. Trying the HD Windows was formerly installed on, again- well I will once Winclone's done its thing....

it's trouble shooting basics, if you have a problem check each step.
the boot media is the first step in the chain of events so new boot media is a valid test.

but it's up to you other options have been mentioned by me, like using clone software from your SSD brand (i used the crucial one last time i think)

Yes, agreed, it's basics. But the DVDs are not faulty and both optical drives are working correctly.

ok well there's other options mentioned, i mentioned that its a pickle
if all non needed usb/pci cards pulled as well as all HD's apart from your install drive pulled, and you tryed both GPU's (one at a time) with no luck i dont know what is wrong.
good luck,

I think of something - could you download, I will give you a link if needed, Win7 and burn it?
And try installing from the burned DVD see what happens.

Maybe we can begin with this and solve the other issues after.

Worth a try.....

Good. If you dont find Win7, I would be able to send you a link tomorrow afternoon.
Just let me know

Some progress.....sort of.
Managed to get the Windows 10 installer ISO booting from both the DVD and USB. Had to use the EFI not legacy options (the legacy ones still do the hanging thing). Once I got past that stage, the installer ran, but the usual 'this disc is the wrong format', multiple erasing of partitions trying to get the 'right' setup....and as per usual, I managed to bork one of the MacOS discs (the one on the PCIe card, and no I do not wish to take it out every time I try to sort this). Restored that and called it a day…

why was there a mac os disc installed in the computer when you tried ton install windows we where clear that you need to pull them all for a win install without problems.

you can get the win 7 iso from the Microsoft site

Yes, yes, I know…it's on a PCIe card and I'm not going to pull it every time I try and install Windows. Carbon Copy Cloner sorted it out anyway. And you don't need to pull drives, you just need to not erase or otherwise mess with them (as I have just done…which is why I had backups).

Why would I want Windows 7 when I have 10?

Jesus, i forgot!
If still needed, i will send you the link as soon as i get home. Sorry!!
