Flipboard just made me go back to my iPad.

Hello fellow iPad owners,

After the initial rush of buying/using an iPad, it got kind of dull. Not a lot of great apps for me to try, nothing interesting other then the same old same old. Browse web, swipe, tap tap, kill some zombies etc.

A new app was released today named Flipboard. It's essentially a social networking magazine. It groups all of your favorite social networks (so far just Facebook/Twitter) and other news feeds available through them and sorts it out very, very sexily into a magazine-esque view.

This has honestly made me go back to using my iPad. With a gorgeous UI and easily accessible news/social media I can now in confidence say I don't regret purchasing my iPad.

Best of all, it's FREE for the app! Thoughts?

I completely agree (except with the part that the iPad experience had become dull). Flipboard is possibly the best non-game application that I have downloaded from the app store. I have a twitter account that I had never used, but because of how perfectly Flipboard presents the tweets (and all other news) I have become a frequent user now. I just wish there were more categories available. If big-time magazines and newspapers begin providing their own content for this app (I remain very doubtful that this will ever happen) then I will be in heaven. I'm still waiting for them to allow me to use the Facebook integration though.

I wasn't criticizing anything, I simply felt the iPad felt like the same old same old, to me. I couldn't find any apps of interest and all I really did was browse the web/play games.

Flipboard makes me feel more involved with my iPad with an experience I cannot find on a regular computer and I hope more apps like it come around.

That's because Flipboard isn't supposed to be a RSS reader, it's supposed to be for other internet sources: Twitter, Facebook, Flickr (in the future), etc. There are plenty of RSS readers around.

I'm loving it. I don't use Twitter much, but have a bunch of local sport writers and players followed. The resulting page is pretty awesome and made me rethink my Twitter use.

I went in last night and followed and unfollowed a bunch of people and the results are pretty good. Looking forward to seeing how my personal news page progresses.

I think creating Twitter lists is the way to go. I'm going to create lists for the type of content I want to follow, then I will follow those people who link to the best content.

Once digg releases v4' hopefully Flipboard will integrate it and I think that will be the best way to discover news through a social network. right now there are too many tweets that don't contain links to other content, which isn't great when viewed in Flipboard.

This is an invalid inference. For example, I do not own an Android device, but I have used it, and I would also disagree with invalid criticisms against it.

How did you obtain this figure? Another poster suggests that you are being sarcastic. Do you have a figure on the percentage of people who react with sarcasm without directly addressing the facts or logic of the points brought up because their feelings are hurt but they are still unable to squarely face the issue?

I like Flipboard. The only trouble I had was repeated sign-in attempts so I could link Twitter & Facebook. It finally worked, you just have to keep trying over and over. Now that it's linked, all is well, it looks amazing too!

I'm using a work iPad our dev team shares and they're going to have to break my fingers if they want the iPad back -- I've found Flipboard to be one of the best apps so far on it. Part of my job is digital magazine content so I was looking through Wired, Sports Illustrated, etc. I LOVE how Flipboard takes a different spin on it.

(And no, I don't work for Flipboard. But yes, now I'm really dying to buy an iPad worse than I was before)

Pulse is a great idea but it is a little clunky and slow when you fill it up with feeds. Love to try Flipboard but despite 2 days and maybe 50 attempts, I have not been able to link my FB or Twitter accounts.

I might use it, shame it does not support rss too as that's where most of my content comes from. I did read an interesting article about the devs (if I remember I will post a link when I get home) that suggested a subscription based future for the app allowing the debs to work alongside content providers.

You can't add accounts because their servers are jammed, which means that in fact it's not "fail" since it's becoming so popular.

I wish they completed the app fully before releasing. I got it for twitter and that's not available right now.
