Personally I would rather have a thinner device even if that meant no S-Pen. That goes for the S models as well.
I hardly ever use the S-pen on my S25U and forget it is there most of the time. I would rather Samsung make the device thinner or include a bigger battery.
Imagine an Galaxy Fold 7 with One UI 8 and as thin as the OPPO Find N5! Sign me up!
No way, S Pen is so important. Both for the S series and Z series. It sets them apart. I can't stand phones without them.

I agree about the stylus being iconic for Note/S/Z series and being a defining feature that sets it apart from other slab phones. Although I don't use the S Pen as often anymore compared to my Note days, I still prefer a case that houses the S Pen. Ideally, the wider Fold7 could house the slim S Pen but I realize that goes against the pursuit of thinner design. My concern now is that too thin may make it harder to grip and unfold.

And I definitely don't want a thicker S Pen as it would clash with the thinner design. I am just more used to the slim S Pen from the Note days and actually find the dimensions more comfortable to use than the bulky Fold4 Edition S Pen.

Man....if the size really looks like that, makes it more tempting. The cameras though...any rumors about upgrades?

Also slightly concerned about battery. Battery life is really the only thing on my Ultra that I'm not super happy with.

Battery size is only thing that's stopping this being an almost perfect foldable

Dang... Very tempting. Just not sure if I really want to go all in if folds and I love my Ultra. But if the difference between what I have and a foldable isn't much, then maybe if trade in is good.

I really enjoy using my folds. To this point the compromises just outweighed the benefit of using it as my main device. The Pixel Fold is actually the closest to being the one for me but it compromises on battery and the Tensor chip/modem just aren't up to par with the Snapdragon devices. The Oppo Find N5 has really been tempting me but don't really want to go the import route. If the Fold 7 battery and cameras improve, from the looks of it, it may be my next device.

Yeah, it would be a cool device to use! I think for me to transition, I would need to agree to 2 things:

- Sacrifice the very best specs for form factor.
- Do I really need a fold? Would it fit my lifestyle?

I've been skeptical of my own interest in folding phones. Then I watched a review of a trifold phone and that kind of changed my perspective. Going from the footprint of a regular phone to a 10" display is pretty mind blowing. It will still take several iterations and a decrease in cost and probably an iphone to get me to bite, but I think it's very impressive technology.

Once you start using a foldable you won't even think back about S25U
I guess it depends on the foldable. I tried the Pixel foldable last weekend. It just cemented for me that that device was not ready to be my daily driver. To heavy and too clunky and hard to open. Just my personal experience though as others love the device.
But I am looking forward to the Fold 7

If they up the battery size the only specs you *may* be sacrificing is camera. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold camera has been more than adequate for me. It's not as exceptional as the 9PXL or S25U but it is still very good. The second part of the equation only you can answer. As thin as the foldables are getting now, they are not unwieldy. The outer display sizes are increasing. It's good to have that big screen when you need it. The problem is android app developers aren't taking full advantage of the additional space. Movies/netflix is just slightly bigger due to the letterboxing. I do enjoy Youtube more on a foldable. Email/messaging/multitasking are much, much better in my opinion.

You definitely picked the wrong one to try Sammy or OnePlus when they release new one

Yeah and personally, I've never been a big tablet user, so it's more of a personal use case. I just don't know if I would actually feel compelled to use the inner screen that often.

I do not think it really a case of considering it as a tablet :)

Personally I am a 95% inner screen user and outer screen is more just notifications

It's almost muscle mem, I just pick up my F6 and press the fingerprint sensor and unfold at the same time, I guess not unlike an Iphone where most forget they unlock with say Facelock and you still have to long swipe up to home screen, its automatic swipe :)

Imagine reverting back t the old 28" TV after using a 60" it's not on, not that the S25 is a bad screen but real estate on a fold is not a compromise :)

Clunky, I get. But too heavy? I don't know about that... I recall when weight correlates with a sense of premium feel to it.

Not trying to refute your experience... because it's your experience, but it's not as if the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is similar to carrying around a brick lol.

Oddly, I used my Fold4 inner screen a lot more than my 12.9" M1 iPad Pro. I eventually sold the iPad Pro because I stopped using it after the Fold4. The large iPad Pro was also too heavy for long sessions, whereas the Fold 4/5/6 is more like an iPad Mini.

In the beginning, I relied on the front cover screen more but over time I now use the inner screen just as much as the front display. The inner screen is especially useful throughout my work day when I'm in a Zoom meeting and can still have my Teams and Outlook windows visible.

Others have correctly pointed out that widescreen content has thick black bars above and below the content, but 4:3 content or YouTube takes full advantage of the inner screen. :)

Oh yeah, it weighs more... no doubt. But I personally don't see that being such a deal breaker... when I owned the Fold 2... it was slightly heavier than the Pixel 9 Pro Fold and I didn't really mind the weight given what was offered.

We ask for more battery and when delivered... that could possibly affect the weight as well as the thickness. So, when we ask for more battery... we then criticize the bulkiness and weight of phones, it's a paradox.

I think the part where Samsung needs to step up is definitely increase the battery, I know everyone wants to tell me how efficient the new chip is but the way I look at it is if another manufacturer is successfully using a carbon silicon battery while keeping the phone slim then Samsung should at least be in the ballpark with increasing it's batteries.

You nailed it on the head. Other than a couple of very minor annoyances, battery is the number one complaint I have since switching. Everything else is awesome.

I've had the last three generations of the Z Fold and have been very happy with the battery life. It may not get everyone through the day, but the Fold 4/5/6 have all lasted me through an active day with 8-9 hours of onscreen time and mobile hotspot use.

We have so many options to charge nowadays with standard USBc, wireless charging car mounts, and discrete power banks that I don't really worry about running out of juice. While traveling I'll keep a powerbank in my backpack for family Android/iPhones, or a super slim powerbank in my wallet.
