The OS is tied to your Apple ID and when buying used you need to wipe and do a new install. Never use what was present.

How about just do an upgrade install of El Capitan. That should fix it.


Thanks for the suggestion, every new OS I upgrade to seems glitchier than the last or at least less user friendly for ease of use. Snow Leopard was my last 'new' OS that actually worked after they got the bugs out, when it was first released.

I still have the issue, no image icons for pictures and iphoto won't upload pics from my iphone, and the mac repair shop is only open when I work, so far this issue is just an endless spinning wheel

You need to create an external bootable USB drive. Boot up your Mac with this.

Then you can properly erase and reformat your Macs internal drive.

Then reinstall your preferred version of macOS and then reinstall your files from backup.

Job done.
