I reported a crash that if you swipe back and forth between Home Screen and App Library a few times rapidly it crashes back to lock screen. Can only reproduce it on a memory-constrained iPhone 13 Mini, but I'm not testing on my flagship devices.

Also noted, Reminders requires a database upgrade which means your synced items will no longer be available on older iOS/iPadOS/macOS versions.
I didn't have to upgrade Reminders on my iPad. Still syncing fine between devices (iPad is the only one running 26).

Biggest issue on the iPad front is fairly regular springboard crashes (the home screen) that send you back to the lock screen. This has happened on macOS 26 as well (loginwindow crashes). There are a decent number of weirdness and glitches, but as others have said, nothing showstopping.

I have it installed on my primary home devices and have no major regrets. Of course, YMMV

Thanks everyone. I have installed it too. So far it actually has not been bad, stable enough at least and as people have said, if any issue, then will just use the backup.

Strangely, for me the new windowing system works wonderfully and Safari is great. The glass effect glitches like crazy everywhere and there are many graphical problems but that doesn't hurt the functionality. Had a few crashes in the beginning but none since yesterday and am heavily using the iPad.

The cynic in me is saying that the reason it’s gone out in this state is they ran out of time in UX/UI testing before WWDC, and they’re hoping the community will find and raise all the issues. They clearly (hahahaha omg) need more real user data on Liquid Glass and its implementation.

On that note, everyone complaining about Tahoe should be making maximum use of Feedback Assistant.

Sure, if you raise an issue it might not get fixed, but if you don’t raise an issue, it definitely won’t get fixed.
That is the purpose of a developer beta, to allow the operating system to be exposed to those outside its 'hallowed walls' to highlight external issues, and to assess the OS. They have not run out of time, WWDC is about development, not stuff for the general public.

I’m considering installing the developer beta on my m4 pro for the first time. My primary device is an iPhone but just wondering how risky it is?
Most important is that you take a backup before you try out beta software and use your Mac to backup and archive it. Do not rely on icloud backup as it will be overwritten on day 2 with beta level backup that you cannot revert to on ipados18
Learn how to put your device into recovery mode because that is what you need when folk say “you can always revert”. Without a computer and those skills, best keep away from beta testing.

You are well advised to erase all content and settings once you have installed the beta then restore the backup to get rid of any dross and get a new set of apps.

Finally, this forum is a mixture of enthusiastic amateurs, professional developers, and the tech curious and we do tend to insult each other, but just ignore that and direct most of your feedback to the official Feedback Assistant. Apple made it possible for you and me to test and feedback for whatever reason, but Apple will not give you any help if you get into trouble, that’s what we are for.
And as for using your daily driver to test, Apple ask the public (yes the public) to test beta in their daily activities so the best device to do that is your daily driver, but remember banking and hearing aids are the most likely casualties, historically.

I installed it but had to revert as I had a consistent way to lock it up. A common use for me is to have a video playing from our local cable company’s app (Xfinity) while browsing. I normally use PiP but was experimenting with having it in a small window and other windows around.

The iPad would lock up consistently. Happened about 5 times. Not sure if it’s specific to the Xfinity app or video playing (didn’t try anything other apps like ESPN).

My apps all are running ok. However I have seen ongoing UI glitches such as hesitations when pressing an icon to open an app.

So far, nothing I have seen has prompted me to go back to the previous version.

I did perform a backup in the cloud and a backup on my Mac before installing the developer deta.

Running on an M1 iPad Pro 12.9” and so far it’s very stable, which is surprising for Beta 1 given the amount of visual changes they’ve implemented. I have yet to have a crash, and all apps are working fine. The first couple of days saw some sluggish behaviour as expected, but since then it’s settled down. The visual overhaul definitely needs some refinement, which I’m sure will occur through the beta cycle (control centre over a white background for example).

I don’t run a lot of apps on my iPad - I mainly use it for email and basic office work when I’m visiting clients and for content consumption and light photo editing when at home - so my app usage is largely the MS Office suite, Mail, Pages/Keynote/Numbers, the Files app, Photos/Pixelmator and Plex/Netflix.

This is the first year I’ve been cautious with the beta cycle - have only installed 26 on my iPad as it’s not mission critical and one of my Apple TVs, when usually I’d be rocking the betas on my iPhone and MacBook as well. If your iPad isn’t your primary/critical device for anything important I say give it a go (with pre-install backup of course ;)).

It’s pretty buggy on my 13” M4. Every time I open a shortcut to web WhatsApp it crashes. But switching it to some apps does do that as well. Especially when connected to my 27”4K display it’s really buggy.
Standalone is decent, but I wouldn’t say it’s ready for public betas, which it isn’t.

Its buggy as hell, but not in the way that i have so far experienced that will damage anything, just annoying.

Mostly UI crashes to black screen when doing things as simple as sliding the notification center down to look at the liquid glass effect more than a few times in a row.

But if you're planning to run it you should already know that - it's DEV BETA 1. Not public preview, not anywhere near ready for release and as such should not be judged for stability as it is nowhere near representative of the final product.
