MY LOOK

I decided to go check this out and kick the tires.

Apple has presented a UNIVERSAL big picture plan. An unmoving target.

http://www.apple.com/iphone/easysetup/rateplans.html

I just wanted to mention that there is no unlimited SMS in those two higher packages unfortunately. They too, like the low end package are 200 SMS per month, with the option to buy a larger number of SMS for a monthly fee.

I've been looking at the Sony W300i. It's a very sweet looking phone, it makes calls, and does some other stuff as well. I think it's sweet. The more I think about paying $600 for a cellphone, the more I realize I don't want an iPhone. I'll take a free bug free phone any day of the week!

Thanks Legend.

Interestingly we ARE actually considering trying an inexpensive Apple system for our home network. My partner just uses his computer for Email and Internet. A simple Apple system will do everything he needs.

If we put our toe into the water with an Apple system we will be ready for when they come out with a system with some of the new touch interfaces that they would be CRAZY not to be working on with the success with them on the iPhone.

But the various tech issues reported here and on the discussion boards at Apple support, have been off-putting. The amount of negative feedback, has been surprising and overwhelming. It never occurred to me that there would be so many problems.

I'm surprised at how few problems are being reported with the iPhone. By comparison, Palm has had years to iterate on the Treo and the complaints I read are worse than the first iPhone release.

You have nothing to apologize for.

It WAS a giant Verizon Ad, and pointless to post that much information about another product in an iPhone forum, especially when nobody asked for it.

I really don't like being rude on message boards. But did either of you notice the title of the thread? Apparently you didn't return an iphone, or decide to wait..so of course this info is useless to you. Why the heck are you here to begin with?

I am here on the boards reading all kinds of posts. I am still waiting for the Apple Store to ship my phone. I have learned all kinds of fun things about the phone and lots of great tips (like the one to keep it from overheating).

Some people are not great at subject lines for posts so you have to click most of them at least once.

If I had decided NOT to buy one or to wait a year I would not be looking here now because all will be different in a year.

Once I get my phone I will likely visit the forum much less frequently unless I want to get information on a problem or an accessory. There is just not a big reason to come here if you are happy (once the initial excitement wears off)

There is no reason at all to be here if you do want one or plan to get one.

Chocolate blows

I sold TWO chocolate phones and replaced them with two Iphones and there is no comparison. To even think the chocolate is even close to the Iphone is ridiculous. I have had many phones and the chocolate was my least favorite phone ever. In fact, my wife and I hated them.

Slow, clunky UI, screwed up touch sensitive buttons that always screw up and are not accurate, small, tiny screen, and battery life was worse than my Iphone. Also, my verizon plan cost us $150 a month for LESS plus we were being charged for each text.

The chocolate phones are horrible. The OP sounds like someone trying to make themselves feel better for ditching the Iphone. Some who bought the Iphone have had buyers remorse as $600 is a lot of money. They feel bad they spent $600+ and find reasons to return them and then they feel better when they spend less and try to tell themselves the new phone is superior to their Iphone.

Again, I have owned the chocolates for 9 months and they suck.

No comparison. Also, both of our Iphones are flawless with no issues whatsoever.

Sorry, just trying to be helpful to other macrumors members who may be in my situation. Nice to know you don't plan to contribute to this community once you get your phone. Thanks for being a team player.

Yes, the old chocolates are horrible. The new VX-8550 is completely redesigned. I would never have purchased the old one. So I agree with you 110%. Again, im not here to bash the iphone, just provide info for those who weren't satisfied like myself. And i never feel bad spending money. There is a name for people who die rich....stupid. I own a "small" business...which happens to be the largest of its kind in new england. I could buy my entire staff iphones and it would barely make a dent in my income. Yet i dont.....because i need to be able to call them ;-).

I will contribute if I have something new to add. I do not think it needs another I LOVE MY iPhone Post.

Sorry the iPhone didn't work out for you, I really feel for you now that you have to go back to normal phones.

Thanks...but i guess sometimes thats just how the cookie crumbles...Who knows what the next year will bring with apple and at&t. I understand hardware problems up front, and applaud apple for their customer service through it all...it's at&t that needs to win me back, and they have a lot of work to do.

Ok....

Asristobrat,

Maybe this is the pseudo-signature you're referring to.

Oh yeah, did i mention i have aim on my phone too? The iphone does not have full featured email...which is amazing. Sure looking at a single email is pretty, but try being a business user that gets 100+ emails a day.

Did I mention that I've been doing AIM on my iPhone for two days. There's two ways to do it, and I've chosen the AIM to SMS route (because I have unlimited text messages) and it works great. You just have to know how to do it.

I AGREE iChat should have been on the iPhone... but it will be soon enough.

As for the e-mail, I'm using it for business purposes every day, and I get LOTS of e-mail. Could they add features that would make it easier? Sure. And they will. But that hardly makes the phone "useless".

True. I just checked. Unlimited data & messaging is $40 and 1500 texts are $30, as opposed to the normal $20 Unlimited data only plan. However you slice it though, a whole HELL of a lot better than Verizon's Smartphone plans. I'm paying $60 now. $70 for 1500 SMS messages (if I texted like a typhoon), would still be a good deal.

Unless you're behaving like they want you to, Verizon is simply bending you over to get a decent capable Smartphone level, large display, phone. I'm sure that's what Apple thought too. Moreover, any phones that want to go global (and use GSM), without introducing a whole OTHER model for CDMA isn't going to be Verizon compatible... like say, the Nokia N95. There are rumors that LG is going to serve up the Prada on Verizon (presumeably with a CDMA version) but I guess we'll never know, given the CDMA/EV-DO unfriendly ruling blocking new 3G phones from being introduced on that network. HTC is developing a version of the Touch for CDMA, but who knows when that'll arrive. It's like waiting for hand-me-downs. When I was on Sprint/Nextel, I felt like a 2nd class citizen, definitely.

I didn't mean anything bad or snotty by pseudo-signature. It's just that my profile on here doesn't display people's signatures, but the way you paginated your post and listed your systems, it looked like a signature. :)

Transferring music to VX8550

To Anthony in particular, I guess, how are you getting your Mac and Chocolate to talk with one another?
