This was after accidental but solid contact with a stone wall over the weekend. The Armorsuit screen protector took the full impact and I doubt my non sapphire screen would have escaped undamaged without it.

It amazes me how many people drop expensive electronics. I am so careful with my phone and watch.

This is why, for the first time ever, I've taken out AppleCare.
I've got the sapphire and so far I've been really impressed. It's been scraped off walls, concrete slabs and bricks and has survived without a scratch.

But if and when the day comes, I'd rather pay the £55 excess than cough up for the full repair/replacement cost.

FWIW, I had almost the exact same experience as you, although the damage to my film was not quite as extensive but in the same place. I changed out the film last night and it looks perfect again. i think I am finally getting quite good at putting these on without stress! :)

I finally had a chance to install the protector. Good thing it came with two, because I totally screwed up the first install. The second one went on perfectly, and you can't even tell it's on there.

Hopefully I never bash my watch against anything, but if I do at least now there's a lower chance of damage.

Never to my electronics. I treat them with kid gloves, always had them in cases and/or screen protectors. These things are made to break. Have to be especially careful with them. For instance, so many people dropped their watches trying to put their watches on while standing, on concrete or hard floors, cracking them, either the glass or denting the watch. I would never take off or put on the watch while standing, always do it while sitting. People especially have trouble with the sports band. Sit down and put it on.

If you have a job where there is a lot of contact with hard objects, wear a ****** beater watch to work. I work in finance and still baby my watch.

This ladies and gentlemen is why sometimes I beleive that nowadays, we need selective breeding. Are you even aware of what the heck you're typing? Was going to reply with something more meaningful but obviously someone loves in a cave of self thought.

*edit* putting aside your nonsense, I can't wait to hear that one day, you accidentally drop your phone, screen first on a rock. Let's see how then and there how "careful" you are and how "protective" your screen protector and case are.

I've never cracked a phone screen. Until one day I was sitting on a concrete step and the phone slid out backwards from my front pocket, and landed maybe 3 inches onto the step. I didnt even look at it at first since i didnt think anything of it it was such a minor drop. Cracked the bottom of the screen. One line across the bottom. Accidents happen to all of us. Thats why I have AC even though ive only used it for the battery on previous phones. Now this one its so minor im not taking it in for just that (im sure something else will happen to it).
Did I mention it had a hardened glass screen protector on it?

Good god man, it's just a thing. An object that's meant to be used. In fact one that is explicitly designed to be used.

I'll give you that when I know I'm going to be in a situation where there's a high probability of potential damage to my phone, I'll slip it into my Apple leather case to keep the scratches at bay and I have a screen protector because that's nice and easy to change when it gets all scuffed up. And boy does it get scuffed up.

But I'm not going to worry about dropping it or breaking it. In fact because of my stupid arm, there's a very high probability of my iPhone being propelled across the room when my arm spasms. And it does and has and will again, no biggie, it's not like it's a child or an irreplaceable antique vase.

I don't get the whole babying of an inanimate electronic device. It's easily replaced and if you're worried about the cost of a replacement. Do what I did for my watch, take out AppleCare.

I can happily ignore the fact that I've got nearly £700 worth of watch on my wrist and just get on with whatever I want to regardless of the risk of damaging or completely destroying my watch. It's only £55 for a replacement, peanuts compared to the cost of initially buying it or buying a new replacement .

Rant over, normal service will resume :D

Interesting comment. I can't come back with a retort to make you understand. You're probably one of those people who walk around with a cracked screen on your phone, congrats to you.

But I guarantee you, I will never drop my phone screen first on a rock. Just won't happen. I've never been that haphazard or clumsy. I've had many cell phones in my life and never have dropped one, since my first one in 1998. Have traded in all of my phones and received full value each time because of no scratches or cracks. Not saying I'm special or better than anyone, I'm just careful and take preventive measures (case, screen protectors, etc). I also own several watches, some high end, and I certainly would be upset if something happened to them.

To each their own, Apple Care is a great thing for those who aren't so careful. I don't need it. I see more cracked screens every day, it's a very normal occurrence nowadays, I just think its ridiculous to treat expensive objects haphazardly, maybe my age is showing, I value things that cost a decent amount of money so I'm careful, yet I still enjoy them to the fullest. To each their own, I enjoy my tech toys and don't want cracked phones/watches, etc.

Ever is a long time. Acting like it's impossible for you to ever have an accident makes you sound crazy.

What if someone bumps into you and you rub against a wall or drop your phone..... I know that is crazy talk.

Wrist bumps the corner of table in the right or really wrong way in this case. You can be as careful as you like, the one thing for certain is that at some point something will not go as planned, That's life.

If you read through the forums, you'll know how much OCD I have and I have protectors on all my screens, cases on all my things from my watch, phone and computer. I have a little undetectable spec of dust under my screen, I send in my watch for a replacement. A scratch on any of my things would annoy the hell out of me. And I see and accept that in life, things can happen and probably will happen. You, on the other hand, claim that accidents don't ever or ever will happen to you makes you sound a little bit over confident on your "luck" hence a little crazy.

Your sentence, "It amazes me how many people drop expensive electronics. I am so careful with my phone and watch.", makes you sound extremely arrogant and also very self absorbed. And as you read through this now becoming senseless thread (thanks to you), people are commenting on your statement and are definitely in agreement that; you're quite the senseless person living in your own little (accident free) shell.

Or maybe he has an imaginary iPhone, Apple Watch and other electronics which are made of AIR hence can never get scratched, dented cracked etc?! Oh this thread just got way more interesting. Where's my popcorn?
