We need some folks with 2TB Seagates to chime in and to verify that they're 7200 RPM...or not.

@ those who ordered BTO 27" with the i7, does your box say i5 processor instead of i7? and inside should there be any receipt or order information? mine was just the computer and the little box. couple scratches and one little chip on the left side, probably not gonna fuss though

Bought an i7,box has i5 picture on the side.
Delivery docket stuck on the box.
All invoices etc emailed from Apple.

I got a Seagate in my 27" i7 2GB. Eh.

Lot quieter than the Seagate drive in my 09.

Apple system profiler knows all. Under Sata.

Hmm well its a 1tb one, and the profiler thing says:
WDC WD1001FALS-403AA0, is that it ? I dont see anything saying Seagate or Hitachi..

Thats the Western Digital Black Caviar edition, i received the same in a 3.4ghz i7 w. 2GB vid card imac.

Seagate Barracuda 1Gb. But I got the high end without any BTO options.

So far whisper quiet. Didn't even hear it when I migrated data last night for 4 hours.

I also have a Seagate in my BTO i7 and 2GB VRAM. Not on it at the moment so I'd need to get the sn# later. It would be so upsetting if they threw a lower RPM drive in here but that's straight up false advertising and blatant lying to the consumer. I doubt Apple's at that level.

Also, my box has the i5 emblem on the side

Hope my replacements' replacement is a WD.

And yes, i5 logo, yet i7 in the iMac.

Seagate 1TB ST31000528AS (7200rpm, 32MB cache)
(from a BTO i5/3.1GHz 2GVRAM)

I think we're sure that the both the Seagate and Western Digital 1TB drives are 7200 RPM --- what we need is more info on the 2TB Seagate drive. :)

I assume that none of these drives are SATA 3? Any idea when those might start being shipped with the iMac?

Even if they were SATA III hard drives, it's not like mechanical hard drives can saturate a SATA II connection, much less a SATA III one.
