i thought the 140 + Mojave update fixed that?
many people claim to be using win bootable from nvme.

also, I've had it bootable and running, but inefi mode. it even successfully updated from 1803 > 1809.

maybe we should just investigate more this certificate thing. how were these people bricking their computers with the certs? had they disabled sip maybe?

Even though the cMP can boot from NVMe with boot rom 140.0.0.0.0, the cMP still presents NVMe drives to all OSes as exernal drives. So the Win10 installer blocks installation to NVMe drives because it blocks installation to any external drive.

I have no idea if Win10 will actually refuse to boot from an external drive or simply refuses to install. If the latter then I guess you could install to a different disk and clone the partition over to the NVMe drive. If the former then I think you're SOL.

this is what i have been doing, but i've been using exFAT. could be that. i'll give it a try. although, would like support for larger files

You can't use either one for Win10. NTFS is required. I only had you choose FAT temporarily to get the scheme changed to Master Boot Record. During the Win10 install you delete all the partitions in that list. Then when you hit Next it will automatically create the proper partitions (including an NTFS one for the main partition).

But it doesn't really matter at this point if Win10 install is being blocked because it won't install to an external disk.

Edit: Maybe something like this would help you

indeed, i think you're right with all of that.

i did watch that video already. i figure it'll probably work. i changed my whole plan though. i put Mojave on the nvme and am now installing win on the ssd. i can always come and switch them up again that way i think. this will probably work for me anyhow. I'll give it a few months and see.

thanks for the help
