Double spacing after a sentence was used while using a typewriter so that you could see the end of the sentence more easily. The spacing on a typewriter is different than a computer with a word processing application. Either way is correct grammar and is only a personal preference. As for me, I absolutely hate double spaces after the end of a sentence.

Edit: Oh and I cannot wait to visit the UK! I absolutely love british humor, sometimes it is a bit odd but generally hilarious!

Sometimes we use the word 'funny' as another way of saying 'strange' or 'weird'. I don't know what caused you to write a whole post about how this isn't funny, but you just convinced me to never go to the UK. THANKS!

You're welcome. If it's that easy to put you off visiting the country that forms the historical basis for your own country, you don't deserve to come here anyway.

Happens in Facebook app too on 3.1

It does seem to be triggered by sentence length. "Can I buy you a cup of coffee again soon?" gets the question mark (?) replaced by a period (.). But "Can I buy you a cup of coffee again?" does not change.

It is unfortunate this conversation has degraded into grammar and slang. This is a serious problem and on topic comments will have a better chance of getting recognized than insults.:(
