Thanks Lou!!!!

So is it safe to install the update before installing the security update?

So first the nvidia webdriver and then the security update, right?

If you have an EFI card you can install the OS X Security update, restart without graphics acceleration, install new Nvidia web driver, and restart again.

Don't believe the Web Driver will install without the security update already being installed. But, that's OK, your card should still show video, but without acceleration.

Is anyone seeing increased kernel panics with 10.12.4 on nVidia cards? Since updating, every morning when I wake up my computer it says the computer was forced to reboot. When using the computer normally during the day it works fine.

As you can tell my my signature, I have an eGPU. I don’t usually have it plugged in, so I’m using Intel graphics most of the time. Consequently, the default OS X graphics driver on my Mac is for my MacBook’s Intel graphics. But for the first time, it’s actually saying Nvidia, even though it’s not plugged in. I’m not complaining. I just think it’s kind of neat. I also think it's a indication that Apple might be going back to Nvidia.

That's from the Nvidia web drivers. It's not there by default.

Yeah, I know. But it’s strange because the Nvidia GPU is not in use right now. It’s not even plugged in. My MacBook is using the integrated Intel graphics right now. It shouldn’t be showing Nvidia there.

Well, maybe it’s just a glitch.

I think it's just the pref pane correctly determining that the web drivers *would* be used, if there was an NVIDIA GPU active. That is, the NVRAM variable has been set to enable the web drivers over the stock Apple drivers.

I even updated the Nvidia driver via pref pane on my Mac Mini without a card connected.

I'm trying to install a GTX980ti Strix Gaming OC in my Macpro 5,1. I'm using the 2x-6pin to 8 from the MB & a 6pin (CDROM power) to 8 pin for the other 8 pin connector which gives me 300w. I'm running 10.12.4 & have the latest web driver 367.15.10.45f01 & cuda 8.0.71. I can boot & run both of my displays, but the NVVDIA drivers will not load (reset NVRAM, SIP off, etc) of course since the system report says I have a Fury 9xxx as my graphics card??? Whats Happening? anyone else had this problem? I haven't had any luck trying to get bootcamp installed even with Winclone, so I don't have access to the windows tools for this card.
thanks

4/11 update: A person in the OverClock forums pointed out that the Asus GTX980ti Strix Gaming OC & a Asus Fury9 Strix Gaming cards are almost physically identical with only minor differences in appearance. So a got a Fury card in a 980ti package box. I got it from Amazon & have sent it back. Now that the pascal drivers are out 378.05.05.05f01 & when ahead & got a gtx1080.

Manage to get my hand on a 5,1 (it shows mid 2012 in "About This Mac") and it is a dual 6 core xeon, total of 24 Gb RAM setup, with ATI 5770 GPU that ships from Apple.

Immediately get my hands on Samsung Evo 850 500 Gb SSD and a Gigabyte GTX1050 Ti Dual 4GB oc (wind force) GPU, SSD installed successfully with the latest MacOS update.

Have not try to install the GPU yet, still trying to read a lot from this forum.

My end state of this set up would be to boot into windows (Boot camp) and maybe sometimes to MacOS should I need it.

if I am able to install the GTX in and use it in the Windows boot camp partition, how can I switch it back to MacOS without by replacing the ATI 5770 default GPU to get the boot screen?

Also, do anyone see any problem in my preferred end state set up?

*Sorry, I am very very new into Mac, and gotten this 5,1 just because it do look cool and I think it still has a lot of potential though its a mid 2012 model*

The Mac OS driver for 1050Ti is not released yet. You better standby for a week before you do that.

All you need is install bootcamp apps in Windows, and choose which boot drive you want on next start up.

Hi, sorry, stanby for a week? What do you mean?

Nvidia is just going to release the macOS drivers for the GTX 1000 (Pascal) series of graphics cards this week (of April 10, 2017) for the first time. All of us, interested in using these cards, have been in a "hurry up and wait" state since last May (2016) for these drivers. Stay tune as it will be big news when the drivers will be released.

Is there any change some ROM-guru will create a custom Mac EFI one for the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti FTW3? And how about the TDP for putting it in a cMP 5.1?

Cheers

I'm wondering if these new drivers are going to roll in improvements for Maxwell as well - I found enough weird glitchy alpha interactions with a GTX 980 and the web drivers that I went back to a sad old 7950..
