All appears to be working fine for my 5,1 with GTX 1080 FE with 10.13.4 17E199. Using the latest NVIDIA Web Drivers (387.10.10.10.30.103) and latest CUDA Driver (387.178).

Updated the machine firmware with the GTX 680 Official Mac Version installed for that. Now on MP51.0085.B00 Boot ROM Version. No issues with keeping the dual 3.46GHz tray upgrade in this machine for the firmware update. (This machine was originally a single CPU tray and had the original tray on standby, just in case.)

Thanks for the info. I just updated to the latest 387.10.10.10.30.103 driver. And see if the colour bug / memory leak still there.

I used it for about 2 hours now. So far so good. If no further news from me, that means this 103 driver also working flawlessly on my Mac. Cheers!
[doublepost=1522753847][/doublepost]Bad news, the colour bug still there (387.10.10.10.30.103), quite bad indeed.

Roll back to the 378 driver now.

Ouch! Mine isn't quite as bad as that, but I am still getting weird discolorations too.

No discolorations at all on my 5,1 with GTX 1080 FE (non-flashed) and the 387.10.10.10.30.103 driver.

Lucky you. Your "Reduce transparency" is disabled, right?

Since it is related to the "Transparency". Not sure if the discoloured part has anything to do with the wallpaper.

I am now using this wallpaper. And as you can see from my previous post. The worst part looks purple-blue ish colour. And the Cyan part looks like the windscreen of the train.

Correct. None of the six boxes at top are checked on Accessibility > Display. Only enabled on that page is the shake mouse to locate.

Under System Pref > General using dark menu bar and dock. Only "glitch" I'm seeing with that is the top right system icon for sharing preferences is not set with proper inverted color. Basically displaying as black on black. Think that's an OS bug, not anything related to NVIDIA drivers. All other icons display properly. If I notice anything else will update.

That really sucks... and me is thinking about getting a GTX 1080. Not.
Is there a way of escalating the bug back to Nvidia?

Yes, just roll back to the 378 drive, problem fixed. (Require SIP disabled)

It’s one of the advantage of using Nvidia card. We can choose to roll back to some earlier version driver (definitely not supported by Nvidia, but at least have a choice). If with AMD, and the drive is buggy, you need to roll back the whole OS (or wait for the next one).

Thanks for the fast reply!
Different question: I came across a NVIdIa® Quadro® K5200 for sale at a good price. On paper, it does look roughly equivalent to a GTX 1080. Now would it work on a Mac Pro with the Nvidia drivers? Or the drivers are only for the GTX series?

It's a Kepler, slightly older than I though. Same specs as a Titan, roughly, and drawing 150W. I'll see if I can try it before buying it since the seller is local.

No color issues with my Maxwell GTX Titan X in 10.11.6 and 10.12.6.

10.13 not yet tested.

That colour issue so far only exist in the 387 driver. AFAIK, this driver family only available for High Sierra.

The 10.12.6, even with the latest patch, still with the 378 driver family.

My experience so far points to driver issue. Even I am with HS, as long as I use the 378 driver. Eventhing works flawlessly. But if I update to the official 387 driver, than the transparency may screw up the colour at anytime.

I just did the 10.13.4 update.

Wrong colors in 10 bit mode, as expected.

But no new Mac Pro firmware, still MP51.0084.B00. Maybe only real Mac Pro 5,1 get the new firmware? I've got it, did not the update via the full installer.

AFAIK, the firmware update only available via the 10.13.4 FULL OS installer, not from any "OS updater".

And yeah, I test that 10bit mode as well, nothing changed.

Hi im trying to figure out what card and drivers to use. 177 pages has my eyes glazed over. I have 2 mac pros 2009 with gtx 570 cards in them now. I finally upgrade the os to 10.12 and want to install new video cards. The 1080's are to much what would anyone recommend
Thanks
Rob

Buy an AMD card like an RX 580? Those should basically just work out of the box and are well supported by the OS, since they are used in official Apple products. Hard to recommend an NVIDIA card right now, given the strained relationship between them and Apple, combined with the High Sierra driver issues with the web driver.

OK thanks, then a 560, 570 or 580 should work, any special drivers? how is the performance without cuda?
and what is the minimum OS that these cards work with
Thanks

For these AMD cards, you better go all the way to the latest High Sierra.

Anyway, if you NEED CUDA, then you need Nvidia GPU. If you don't need CUDA, then it won't make any difference. Quite a few apps provide options to choose between OpenCL, CUDA, METAL. My experience so far, OpenCL usually still the most reliable options. And there is usually no noticeable improvement by using CUDA.

My 2009 macpros only have 10.10 and will not take 10.12 or 10.13 will the amd card still work with an older OS

I’m gonna say no.
The RX580 and the other 560,570 works ootb in 10.12 and later.
