I used most of my previous iPads (9.7 pro, 10.5 pro, mini 4) in landscape predominanly, but found myself using the 12.9 in lanscape almost all the time when in tablet-mode ... the portrait width is pretty much the 11 landscape, which makes a big difference.I plan on upgrading my 2018 11" on the next cycle. I debated getting the 12.9" M1 but I use the tablet in portrait for reading/annotation a lot for work and prefer the smaller/lighter 11". Aside from the screen, the only thing I'm jealous about the 12.9" is the ability to have two apps side-by-side in "full width" mode. The 11" at least one app is squished which is usually fine but I think I'd like that option if I had it.
I always have the impression that the 12.9” plus the keyboard which is how the vast majority use it 90% of the time for the price, size and weight you might aswell get a MacBook which will likely cost less and do more.
The 11” is great as a sort of 2 in 1 device, but I would love to see the sizes change from 11” and 12.9” to 12” and 14” as I think these would be perfect for everyone.

And sadly, justifying the purchase of two iPads in the context of my other hobby addictions isn't possible
“And people think that’s a Netbook. But the problem with netbooks is that they aren’t better at anything” - Steve JobsI've done the multiple iPad life, and there is a saying in pro football that if you have two quarterbacks, then you have none. And I found that if I had more than one iPad, there was always a "favorite" I would grab more than the others, making me wonder why I spent thousands on iPads that just sit there.
So I am down to he tweener, the 11. Small snd light enough to use as a tablet, but still a good size to use as a laptop in keyboard mode. Reminds me of the old netbooks.

Yeah, netbooks kinda sucked.
Just looked it up; pretty cool exterior! Holy bezels on the inside, but of course that wasn’t uncommon back then. (Really makes you appreciate what Apple was able to do with the titanium MacBooks.)I had a really nice looking 2010 Samsung NF310 Netbook. Performance really sucked.

I like the state of the art VGA port.
I had that same device, except all white .... still have it in pristine condition with more RAM and an SSD "just because"I had a really nice looking 2010 Samsung NF310 Netbook. Performance really sucked.
That‘s understandable. The folks I know who got the iPhone Pro Max did so because their aging eyes need bigger fonts. On smaller displays, there'd be barely any content on the screen with the font sizes they use.
For sure. The redundancy thing always bother me to a certain extent. There‘s really nothing wrong with having a variety of devices with some amount of overlap between them, but when I’m in that situation there’s always a part of me that‘s like ’hey, we should really be more efficient here.’ Sometimes I listen to that voice, other times I go and buy a gadget I don’t really need ?♂️
Amen! I’ve long wanted The One Device To Rule Them All, but I’m not sure it will ever exist, or if I’d be happy with just the one when the time arrives. Devices that change size, like folding ones, are really interesting to me. I’m looking forward to seeing how that category progresses over the next few years. Who knows, the perfect device could be right around the corner. Until then I’ll keep telling myself I don’t need every cool new product, buying a bunch of them anyways, and then selling them later on in a desire to downsize and simplify. It’s a great cycle! ?♂️I am totally with you here. I try to live as much of a minimalist existence as I can, but I totally ruin it with ownership of multiple devices. In a perfect world, I would only have one, or maybe two devices at the most.
It’s nice to have options! (Sometimes.) Really seems like 11” is a good size for many folks. I used to have the 10.5” iPad Pro and at the time thought that was an ideal size. And now a few years later I feel the same about the 11”, which makes me think that 10-11 is a sweet spot.I currently have 3 iPad's (I know!!), 2020 11" iPad Pro, 2021 12.9" and 2021 mini. Love them all but if I had to choose only one it'd be the 11". I've always loved the mini and when working in the office used to be able just to throw in my bag. The 12.9 now just sits in my home office and is used mainly just to watch Netflix, Sky Sports etc. The 11" is used mainly when sitting on the sofa. As I say, I love them all but 11" if I had to pick just one.

Does the lower refresh screen on the mini bother you after using the Pros?
