Fring app now supports 2 way video call over 3G

You have to call them at the skype user ID not their phone number for it to work right. Click on add buddy under more
 
I just downloaded this program. Under extras (or anywhere else for that matter) I see no reference to Skype. Can someone please enlighten me?

ah, for a second there I though you were saying that it wouldn't work over WIFI!

It will come out of your monthly allowance if it's over 3G or a limited commercial WIFI package. For home or unlimited WIFI it won't.
 
am i supposed to log in with my skype account at the main screen?? why the hell is this so complicated?

when i put my skype username and pw, it says wrong username/pw

yeah i wondered the same thing. when I tried to do anything else, the app locked up. I deleted it until things slow down/get sorted out.

you need to create a fring user account initially. once you get thru this step (which is having serious issues once word got out and traffic went up, i assume) it will have you add 'add-ons' which are additional accounts, i.e. skype, yahoo, google, etc.

I got the Fring account to take, it's much better now since they've disabled Skype. I went to add-ons and Skype is gone - for now anyway.
 
I can cope with the dodgy UI as it's filling a gap until Skype gets around to sorting out their next update. The issue I'm having is random disconnects (I'll re-open the app and I'm signed out) and the fact there appears to be no way to set your status (away, busy etc).

Sort that out and add a few high-resolution images and it'll be pretty good.
 
It finally accepted my registration! That only took 3 days.

Now I need to find people to test it out with.
 
What other way is there to video chat except skype now that it's gone? My wife also has a iphone4 and we are trying to find a way to do this over 3g when wi-fi isn't available for facetime.
