So thought I'd have another play. I ordered a Miops NT to sound trigger the fruit dropping with some success. A lot less missed shots than my last effort. I used a glass vase, which wasn't really wide enough for what I needed, and fixed LED lights.
I'm not entirely happy with it, as the fruit could be a little sharper. I've played with it in LR for a while as well.

Pointers more than welcome!
What are the image specs? Since you are using hot lights your action stopping power is going to be driven by your shutter speed. Strobes will make it easier to freeze the action. With a speed light set to low power you can get times even shorter than your camera's shutter.

While I don't know how accurate the tests were this page is interesting. http://gock.net/2012/01/flash-durations-small-strobes/

This is the setup I used - D3100, 50mm f1.8, f7.1, 1/60, speedlight on camera to bounce off ceiling. ISO went to about 2000.
Cable remote on camera.

Although the 2nd flash fired OK as slave, it wouldn't sync quite right and had no effect, so I ditched it when I went for the actual shots.

Cheers :)

Here's a picture I took that got featured in my high school's end of year art magazine! ☺️

I think you were dropping higher than me! I was hoping to get a strawberry with the green stalk in as well, but harder than it looks.

Dunno about that, I tried various heights based on my image previews.
I too didn't get any stalk in the pictures, maybe because I was dropping the fruit sharp end down.

Last one for the moment ...
