Hello everyone!

Could you recommend me a good ftp client for mac osx?

Cheers

There are alot of good choices, thought I'd suggest Fugu as well, it's what I've been using as of late.

I used to use Transmit, but it annoyed me too much so I ditched it for CyberDuck, which I am quite happy with - especially the price tag. ;)

I tried Fetch but had too many problems with it - it would fail to connect to servers, or time out while transferring files.

You can use the Finder's Go > Connect to Server.... It will mount your FTP server on the Desktop just like any other network volume, albeit read-only. Interarchy will mount FTP servers on the Desktop as read/write network volumes. I have used Fetch since Shep was a pup and have never had a microsecond of trouble with it.

Hmm, Fetch has been VERY reliable for me, that's one of the reasons I like it. What version were using? I've used 4.x and 5.x with no problems.

It's been a while since I got it, but I know you start by going to this page: http://fetchsoftworks.com/Licensing/edustore.application.html . They'll give you a login and password to get into a section of the store where you can "buy" Fetch for free, ie. download it and get a serial number emailed to you without having to pay.

The first version I used was 3, and it had the problem. I tried it again when 5 came out, and still had the same problems. Transmit, Cyberduck, and the command-line ftp client have all worked perfectly.

one more vote for transmit

used fugu for awhile and fetch for awhile, fugu had something fetch didn't, SSH access or is it SFTP? I'm not sure, but I tried transmit and love it!

Fugu is SFTP (not sure about SSH)

So nobody else uses the terminal as an ftp client? I don't even remember how I found it, I just remember that I was pissed off at comcast's web-based upload for their personal sites. The first gui client that I tried didn't work, so I used the terminal. It isn't even that hard to use.

I have used it before, but it is nowhere near as feature-rich as the other clients mentioned above. For limited, basic use it is good, but for advanced users it doesn't cut it.

How about ftp?

No need for a GUI when the command line works fine.

What advanced features do you need?
