The iPhone has no good tactile control for games. Just tipping the phone or pressing the smooth glass screen don't provide sufficient feedback to be able to play a wide variety of games that will almost certainly never take shape on the iPhone.
I have an iPhone and love it... but it is what it is, and it isn't what it isn't. IMO it will (and should) never be a true "gaming device." It's a device that has a small selection of games available.
