I hate typing on a ipad, why would I spend 3,000 and get the same experience.

Who’s to say it would be the same though? Raised bumps for the keys, haptics... and I wouldn’t be surprised if Apple have some more tricks up their sleeve in this area. They were smart enough to make a soft keyboard work well on a phone after all.

True, but their latest innovations have left something to be desired and again I stand by my personal opinion that I'd rather not having something that provides the same feel as typing on an iPad

Interesting design concept. I'm on the maybe side. If it had excellent haptic feedback and possibly physical grooves/ notches so you could feel physically feel where your fingers should be, I might be okay with it.

I could also see the potential where the keyboard area could double as a secondary screen when you prop the keyboard on a laptop stand and plug in a regular keyboard when you're at home/ the office.

I'm still not convinced on the haptics being workable for something like a keyboard where your finger is only in contact with the surface for a fraction of a second. When typing at speed I genuinely wonder if it's possible to register the stroke, generate the feedback in time for you to feel it, and stop and be ready for the next one another fraction of a second later? I know Apple's taptic engines are impressively fast, but this seems to need something virtually instantaneous...

"No travel keyboard" is a solution looking for a problem.

Keyboards work. If you want to get rid of the keyboard you better have an alternative that works just as well or better. Some software on-screen keyboard with no travel is not an option.
