This is a response that I received on 3/31/09 to a Support Request that I sent them with comments. It sheds some light.....
And yes, this response IS legitimate...

Thats why we took off the some features from G-Map version 1.3.
There is progress bar instead of the remaining time and distance for next turn, you can figure this out with this bar. When the progress bar is filled out by green color, you are able to hear alarm and get item from question box. It means that it is time to make turns.
However there will be iPhone 3.0 will include app with turn by turn directions in summer. So we will provide these features on G-map in summer.

This is the most truthful and appropriate response they could have gave. I guess we were all scratching our collective heads at the previous version, which did indeed have TbT directions. The problem was it was directly against the SDK. When we saw the abrupt removal citing "improvements" to come, unlike other app updates, it didn't take a genius to figure out "improvements" weren't going to be coming.
Anyways, all of this is a mute point as real TbT is coming in June. If GPS is so important to you and you can't wait and must have GPS now, then this version of G-Map is not the way to solve this problem, just go out and buy a GPS unit for $100.
