that looks a bit baddish...what happened to the handles?I think the current design is better even though it may be changed to something else soon...

It would be stupid if they dumped the handles, those handles make it easy to lug it around. (yes I do that often :)
and no im not going to buy a powerbook :)

Not the most original of ideas........... :p

Atleast it's not bleeding Snow coloured......

It doesn't make sense. The text says the new Powermac will be 'white' like the ibook, iMac etc...

The picture is a quicksilver without the handles. I think this is just a quick work from the webmaster of the site to give the readers a brief idea, of what shape it will be like.

I would take this with a grain of salt.

Apple probably WILL keep the handles somehow... those things are handy to move. That French mock up is just someone speculating badly by editing down a quicksilver.

ALso maybe there will be three accessible bays in front rather than two in a new design.

The only bad thing about the handles as is, is that it might make stacking other drives and modems on top 'slightly' awkward. But I don't think anyone should expect that much difference in the case design at all... just more room inside, better access to bays, and perhaps a something closer to snowy white. The next gen macs will probably settle around snow and a brushed metal look, until they think that looks boring.

I hope Apple (or whoever made that mock-up) gets smart and realizes that those handles weren't just there for aesthetic value...they served a purpose! At this point I don't believe that was even an official picture from Apple...it was probably some Photoshop fanatic who wanted to stir up some trouble...

Whoever did that photoshop job forgot to put the speaker back on the front. I would get lonely working with a mute powermac.

The handles really give the case a curved and sleek look to the tower. When they're gone like that it begins to resemble a PeeCee box.

the handles are needed to rise the g4 from the floor or table so air can flow into the case through the holes, it helps the g4 to stay cool so this handle less design wouldn't work.

Yeah they did a poor job. No imagination. Apple's done some crazy designs the last few years (remember what everyone thought when Cube images were leaked?) but they've always had a certain style and flair. This is plain lame.

unless apple somehow made the thing much lighter which is do-able with the new smaller motherboards on the market and ever increasingly smaller parts

the emac does not have a handle like the imac did

the new ibook does not have a handle like the old ibook did

the emac, however, should have a handle and feels to be as heavy as the original imac when i lifted it...not too heavy, but i think a handle would help even thought the cathode ray tube is one of those ultra short tubes smaller than my sony 14" inch monitor

only time will tell and maybe we will all know in two days!
