Depends what apps you use

Granted I never use this feature but still doesn't hurt having the option.

This ^. While I personally found no use for the feature as I found the split screen size far too small for most functions (hell, I prefer not to browse the web on my iPhone), I don't begrudge other for having the option and finding it useful.

It matters greatly on my note 3. I use split screen on a daily basis. Its one of those duh features you wonder how you got along with after using it.

It matters to me. I've used it on my note 3 and now on my S5. It comes in handy when you want to watch a YouTube video but also browse the Web. Or if you need two an pages open at the same time.

See, plenty find it useful. Just hope neither of you too ever claimed you couldn't browse the web on an iPhone because the screen was too small. :p;)

It's probably still bigger than the original iphone screen at half size so....

Lol, this is so true. I don't always use split screen 50/50, many times I use 75/25 with the main program at 75 and some auxiliary app like say a book reader app or music controls at 25. While driving I also like having Waze as one of the multi split apps so I can see police, accidents and traffic but still have control of music, books in mortplayer, quick glances at my texts, etc.

The iPhone thing is still amusing me though. I can barely use my wifes iPhone with the entire screen and the huge bezel, I cannot believe I survived for years with that size screen.

No I'm not claiming that at all, but with the increased resolution and the wider aspect even browsing at 50/50 or better yet 75/25 is IMO better than the iPhone. I'm all about options, at least I have the option for split screen. Samsung gives us lots of options, we may not like some of them or use some, or think of some as gimmicks but at least they make the effort to throw them in there.

I rarely browsed the internet on my ip5, only if it was something very important, I just found the experience to be very difficult. Not impossible of course, heck I remember browsing WAP pages on little clamshell phones. Just very far from ideal and not something I would ever do casually. On my Note 3 I find myself browsing the web very casually and often leaving the tablet at home because I know my N3 can handle my needs.

Not all. I browse on my iPod touch without any problems. I browsed on the iPhone 3G and 4 which were 3.5 inches. I just prefer the extra real estate.

I often wonder how I used certain devices. I remember when I got the iPhone 4. After using it for a while I wondered how I'd used the non retina display on the 3G. I look at the iPhone 4 that my mum still uses and wonder how I ever used that small thing. I look at the screen on my S5 and now look disparagingly at the screen on the note 3 (in terms of quality).

No doubt when I get the note 4 (most likely) I'll look at the S5 screen with disdain.

I'm all for options too. I'd rather have the choice and not take it than not have the choice. That's why I don't understand when people complain about gimmicks. If you don't want it don't use it simple. However there will be some people who do use it.
