All you need to do is squeeze the severed finger or someone will figure out a bypass. They always do. No?;)
Not sure how it works exactly I just remember reading that it does check for blood flow which I thought was pretty cool. Though I wouldn't expect a reasonable unbias response from you anyway :D

I just had this exact conversation with @jamezr in another post. Do I know how this might be hacked. No. Conjectures. But IMO, it’s erroneous thinking to believe that without some effort biometric devices can’t somehow be hacked.

Any biometric measure can be hacked. If you really want security you are using a alphanumeric pass code. Biometrics are about the balance of convenience and security.

My ideal setup would be FaceID with the sensors hidden under the screen along with in screen fps.

That doesn’t mean it somehow can’t be hacked(and that’s an opinion).
Again....just my opinion..but thanks for stating the obvious
Then I'm sure FaceID on your iPhone will be hacked as well

No one is saying some biometric devices cannot be hacked.
You're the one making off the cuff statements like a severed finger can bypass the FPS on the S10....

Yep. We’re all entitled to an opinion, even an off the cuff opinion. I’m waiting for Face ID to be hacked. Tbh. Much noteriety will be bestowed to someone who does it.

Nothing is impervious to hacking. Why would you want an average Joe to bypass FaceID w/ consistency? So it can get better w/ software?

It’s always about building a better mousetrap to catch smarter mice. Edit: that’s how hardware and software gets improved. But nowhere did I state I want an average joe to be able to bypass biometric security. It was conjecture.

Way too easy to unlock..

Your girlfriend or wife would most likely have quite a few videos of you. Once you sleep your video could be used to unlock your smartphone. Best to stick with manual passwords that you have to type in for security.

That is why we can't use it for things like payments because Samsung know it's not very secure.

Also my partner knows my pattern and has her fingerprint registered already lol.

That's fine, but that doesn't preclude average Joes from exposing exploits. And not everyone is going to expose an exploit either necessarily.

How is this news? Face unlock of Android has always relied on 2D recognition, which means it can be fooled with photo (and obviously video), and it’s been around since Lollipop.

My take here is unbox therapy being the usual clickbait, using a non news for views (I’m astonished how people still think this guy as a valid techy as it is obvious he’s not)

Ids been around since Ice cream sandwich but I agree this is so old. This isn’t news. We’ve know this for years.
