http://www.android.gs/samsung-galax...-1080p-display-release-date-to-be-q1-q2-2013/

- Release date March 2013
- 5" 1080p flexible display
- 2 GHz Quad Core Cortex A15
- 2 GB ram
- 32 GB internal storage
- 13 MP camera

Definitely pushing the limits with these rumored specs. I think the key factor not mentioned here will be the battery as I'd imagine such a high res display is going to use a ton o' juice.

Personally, I'm not a fan of the recent 'phablet' trend but certainly can understand the appeal to some people, especially if you're only looking to carry around a single device. I also think 1080p is simply overkill in devices these sizes as once use get past a certain ppi the human eye can't tell the difference anyways. All those extra pixels will require more power, more bandwidth for HD video streaming and more memory if you chose to carry your video with you (my 1080p videos generally are significantly larger than my 720p). Seems like it's increasing specs just to say you have something your competitors don't, even if it really isn't an advantage.

Again, this is just my opinion.

Samsung should keep the Galaxy S line 4.9" and below, and let their Note line go 5" and above.

Eh, not like I'd ever get an S-anything, anyway.

If the S4 will truly remain the same size as the S3 but with a 5 inch screen and the specs listed then I'll be looking forward to it.

This is a pipe dream. A flexible display? What could possibly be the utility of having a flexible display?

I guess all they'd have to do is make the display flexible, as the body already does that (BAM).

Seriously, though, this rumor is pretty ridiculous.

There have been many videos showing the flexible screens so it isnt a pipe dream at all. The biggest advantage is it wont break. Cant believe you havent ever heard of the flex screens. Been hearing about those for 1.5 to 2 years and they had them at the last CES convention in Vegas.

Look them up.

If I can use my nokia as a hammer, I should be able to use my samsung as a uh.... a tool that is flexible.

I'd like to see them slap a flexible display on a rigid smartphone frame and then smash it with a hammer.

I Really really doubt it will have 2ghz quad core. Firstly cause the A15 duo will run rings around the quad a9. Secondly at 2ghz it will be extremely fast. Maybe a 2ghz duo core or a 1ghz quad core at most.

I really hope Samsung makes a great camera with 13mp else i'm waiting for Sonys Odin to be announced.

So you don't like a phone that has not been announced yet just cause of the manufacturer? Sounds quite narrow minded to me....kinda fanboyish and a mentality I expect from extreme fans. Didn't think you were the type.

I don't see how that could be implemented in a phone...

Do you honestly think that Apple wont be exploring this option? If they aren't they will get left so far behind. This is the future.

I dont think that it will be available for the S4, but I certainly think that in a couple of years that technology advances will allow flexible phone housing and innards to be available for mainstream mobile devices.

Both the links in the OP are just rumours, I heavily doubt we'll see this flexible display on the S4.

Obviously it would smash to bits, the rigid part anyway. But under normal usage we aren't smashing phones with hammers. Phones are dropping a matter of a 3-4 feet and the screen is breaking while the frame remains unscathed. If the screen wasn't so rigid it wouldn't shatter.

Rumors about all devices have seemed pretty accurate lately. I wouldn't just nod this rumor off based on flex screen.

So if I drop my phone it'll get all bent and deformed? I guess it would be nice to have a shatter-proof screen, I'm just curious to see how.

To some people, until it comes on an iPhone it is not worth having. But we always knew that.

There's a saying over here; If the cap fits, wear it.

flexible display is thinner, lighter & stronger than current screen tech in phones.

dont expect a bendy display. Thinner screen means more room for battery :)

I would still prefer the 5" 1080p Super LCD 3 that is being used in the Droid DNA/J Butterfly. That is a gorgeous display. I also believe that a quad core exynos 5000 based CPU is too much. A dual core 2.GHz is a possibility and would do wonders. Honestly, I think that the S4 will be a Nexus 10 shrunken down to a 5" 1080p package (with maybe a slightly higher clock speed).

3, 2, 1... and here come all the iphone fanbois saying these sepcs are ridiculous, battery life will suck, its too big bla bla bla. (but when the rumors for iphone 6 come out they will expect it to cut glass and cure cancer)

I don't really believe on these rumours... Even tough it is a commom desire to have the best and the most potent gadget of the category, unless you're going to run full photoshop in your phone, I don't see why 2 Ghz and 3 Gigs of RAM. Sure, would be magic, but unnecessary and it would make the phone more expansive... I like about the screen however. Battery information is needed.
Oh, and they should tame the oportunity to make a premium built phone.

Yeah, sounds about right. The battery life will probably be killer with the 5" 1080p screen and 2 GHz chip! And that's the perfect size!
