Do you feel better about yourself now?

I hope so. It sounded pretty fantastic.

Another argument I really can't stand or understand is when people say, "why would I record in 4K? I don't have a 4K TV."
Really? Are you really that near sighted? Do you know how much old footage I have that I would have loved to have had in HD now that HD is mainstream. I record in 4K and don't have a 4K TV yet. But when I get one in a couple of years, I've got the footage to watch in all its 4K glory. Smh at this ignorance.

That is a really good point

Really good point.

Also, Apple happily future proofs their phone for gains we have yet to still really see. What has the 64-bit architecture done for iPhone owners? Apple Pay took months to take off and is actually still spreading/evolving. Yet they're often heralded as future thinkers and pushers.

Yet if competitors do it, it's either overkill or just for bragging rights or whatnot.

I've always said, if the battery can keep up, what's the harm in having better equipment? The phone will theoretically last people one to two years. What's wrong with future proofing it? Nothing. Samsung went all out, and that benefits the consumer. They went all out with the display technology, with battery charging (both wireless and quick charge together!), with storage speeds, with RAM, with build, with the camera. What is wrong with all this? Even if some of these things are unnecessarily high? Nothing! It's great for the consumer and spurs competition.

In fact, I really hope Apple comes out guns-a'blazin' with their 6S release too. It feels like Apple trickles their upgrades out, and personally, I'm a bit tired of waiting.

Likewise, this should force HTC, Motorola, Sony, LG, and others to go all out so they don't get left behind.

All this is good for us, the consumers. Why are people complaining?

If you were head of Apple why would you deviate from this model that has made them one of the most iconic companies in the world and built a following of buyers that waits on every breath of an item announcement?

Seems like a hell of a business strategy that is working out pretty well for them.

As a more informed tech consumer like yourself, I am with you on it being annoying at times but I also see it from a business perspective and that recipe is pretty solid.

Oh absolutely. Perfectly understandable from Apple's end. However, that's sort of the growing problem I have with Apple. They are nearly invincible. Their brand is ridiculously strong. And despite switching from the iPhone 6 to the OnePlus One, I am still hanging onto my iPh6 and use it (more and more rarely now, though) once in a while. Also, all my computers at home are Macs. I also have an iPad Air.

I remain a huge Apple fan, but also recognize that they've become something so big and so loved that it's hurting my experience, specifically with iOS and the iPhone.

The competition in the industry that they "created" with the iPhone has really caught up, and in my opinion, is beginning to surpass them. That's why I switched to the OnePlus. And I can only hope that it nudges Apple to push faster, instead of offering one or two stand out features of the latest iPhone (a lot of which sometimes don't see immediate benefits. Again, I reference 64-bit architecture and Apple Pay).

The branding is so strong now, they can get away with almost anything, and still have record breaking numbers. That is amazing for them and for a company in general and it's a great story. But for the consumer? I'm not so sure. I'm glad there are competitors that are willing to offer more for a lot less. It's necessary for the industry.

Isn't it funny how some want to downplay the GS6 accomplishments. But put those same specs/accomplishments on an iPhone and oh my they will boast how it is industry leading......

Pretty much. Samsung puts 4k on their flagship phones and its "overkill" and a "useless gimmick" Apple announces the new iPhone can do 4k and all of sudden it's "cool and awesome" and "Apple didn't do it first but they did it the best" Same **** happens every year

galaxy s6 vs iphone 6 camera

I think I was misunderstood earlier. I wasn't suggesting 4k was a gimmick, I just didn't see the point just yet. Another poster made a very good point about having the quality for future use and that's something I hadn't considered. The more of the S6 I see the more I like it. I just hope TW is a little more fluid but by the looks it is. I might try Samsung next time around. Not everything on here has to be about picking sides people. Enjoy :)

We're all friendly people, I think. :)

I think people just get frustrated when Apple constantly gets a pass when others don't. Or I guess, to be specific to this case, Apple gets praises when they future-proof, but others don't get any credit for doing essentially the same thing.

And then in some rare cases, it's extra frustrating when people actually give the competition crap for "100% copying" Apple. That's when things fly off the handle! lol
