Give it to Samsung, they actually try to throw in the best tech in the game with every device. They hold little back.

The S6 is a beast.

Apple's flagship phone shipped with a 720P display...Samsung wouldn't hear of it. They went all in.

No matter what Samsung announces it will be divisive. People who want a better build will now lose swappable battery etc.

Can't have it all.

So far, very impressive offering from Samsung. Like many others the edge has really caught my attention. Beautiful phone. Let's see what it can do when reviews come out.

All very exciting.

I think they should of bragged more about being a full year ahead of everyone else on 14nm finfet.

The exynos 7 absolutely destroyed the 810 in benchmarks and efficiency

I must say... I will probably be selling my iPhone 6 to get the S6. I'm a big camera user and the S6 camera really puts the iPhone 6's camera to shame. The phone also looks really beautiful. I'm glad they went with Corning Gorilla Glass for the back instead of some in-house made glass.

Just be aware that 'that is exactly' what Samsung wants you to think with that demo. We don't know if that was truly an iPhone 6 plus either. Additionally they could have done the touch to focus and manual darkening even if it was. So yeah until we see 'genuine USER examples' don't go selling your iPhone just because of camera just yet. ;)

Still it looks fab device.

reading more hands on - seems I was bang on the money about Samsung's claim of debloating- when all they've done is really de-cluttered. As long as it's fast and memory managment isn't an issue and with 3gb it really shouldn't be - it won't be a problem like it was on the S5 - but yeah I can safely say 'I told you so MacRumors peeps' :)

Definitely in love with the Green & blue edge ones - though Finger print magnet it does also appear to be - so looks like I'll be buying a case for this beauty too.

As soon as Vodafone have pre-ordering - I'm there.

Agreed, battery and no sd card is a down side, albveit base memory increased to 32gb, but still bit of shame, however the edge looks widely different and i reckon in a store it will stand out and be a good seller

Exynos in the Alpha and Note 4 variants was excellent - so yeah I have no reservations in regards to it over the 810

The fact that they have to announce this is pathetic.

Really, i would think its more acknowlodgment of peoples frustration, does apple get up and say we put in better wireless aerialss because we had an issue, no they dont they gloss over, fair play samsung standing up and saying we heard you all so we done something about it, that takes strength in my opinion

There announcing it because there main competition is using the same cores on a 20nm process and reviews show it throttling and lagging big time.

It's just Samsungs way at poking at Qualcomm and leaving them for the gs6

Yes but what they did was that they threw more powerful hw at the problem.
They might have downsized TW a bit but a fact is that they do not understand the software.

This is part of the reason I left my iPhone. It just felt like others were moving on. Any few advantages the iPhone still has are non factors for me now for what I gain.

Can't wait to read more about the edge. Samsung is pushing the boundaries. Kudos for them.

This might be the first time, in like EVER, that Samsung out designed HTC.

IN TERMS OF DESIGN
2007 - HTC > Samsung
2008 - HTC > Samsung
2009 - HTC > Samsung
2010 - HTC > Samsung
2011 - HTC > Samsung
2012 - HTC > Samsung
2013 - HTC > Samsung
2014 - HTC > Samsung
2015 - HTC < Samsung

Not saying it will be practical and I really do prefer performance over style. I was never enamored by the curved displays of the Galaxy Round or LG Flex series. But that S6 edge looks pretty hot! Offer it to us true black, pls?

Very funny. Thanks for making me laugh

Seems like they did material design right on the S6, but it always seemed to be unfinished on the S5/Note 4 lollipop updated stock apps - it will be disappointing for those with devices only a few months old to be left with these fudged stock apps aesthetically.

That's not it. Samsung had to use Qualcomm in the US/Europe because of an LTE chip. Now that they have their own and can emulate at no performance cost they can use their own CPU.

But...they do what they understand and that's developing chips. The fundamental flaw with android / java has not been solved.

Yes possibly, but at the same point hardware has evolved faster than software, so if it fixes the problem then great job done, apparently they also slimmed TW by 40% according to tech notes floating (discussed on twit.tv live stream)

The other thing is, stock android is a divisive as any ui skinned android. TO me stock android even in lollipop is dull as dishwater, whilst TW was too the other extreme, if a happy medium has been met then win win

Also they are a Korean company, their taste varey to other continents, ever seen, Miui or Emotion UI, heavy skinning satisfies the home markets

Yep debloating is more than just a few pre-loaded apps. It's the old services and core stuff much of which is legacy services that have been lingering on Touchwiz devices since 2008. Clearing out the surface detritus is akin to person cleaning house by moving a few ornaments off the counter, and but leaving the cupboards brimmed full of junk .....

They have always traditionally just added to that clutter and thrown more power at it to solve any issues of lag with varying degrees of success (& failure).

Thankfully this is one time where I'm glad to see at least it has 3gb ram (I'd have been concerned with 2gb again) to muscle it's way through that slightly prettier she'll even if the cupboards are still full ...

Really because the note 2 used exynos quad core and had lte.they used snapdragon because of the better gpu and efficiency.

There exynos didn't get good until 20nm on the alpha amd that also has dadum lte and is sold in the USA and finally exynos is running prime on 14nm.

As you can see the same cores on the 810 are throttling using 20nm

The fact that you think Samsung is emulating it's lte chip just shows how little you know.

The snapdragon up to this point were a better more efficient soc and had lte as a bonus built it but in no way was it ever a reason they used it over exynos.

Samsung sold exynos variants with lte support in the USA but there performance was no where near krait cores in the snapdragon socs

For me stock anything is not good enough...especially when it comes to software.
Look at apple...specialized software running very well on low/medium spec. device. And their entire ecosystem is profitable not only for Apple but developers as well.

While on the other side...you get a hw beast with crappy sw. What we need is :
1) iOS alternative
2) developer tools as good as tools for apple devs
3) safe, relatively simple programming language for this new OS
4) building an entirely new profitable ecosystem

I think the Exynos was still better when it came to CPU power compared to anything from qualcomm.
But again..the GPU thing was different.

i wish they would start building their own ecosystem...by buying somebody who actually understands software & design.

Clock for clock they were better but were power hungry cores and could not compete with snapdragon In power efficiency
